I recently pivoted into cybersecurity and have taken the ISC2 and CompTIA Security+ certificate exams. Landing a job has been challenging, and I have been on the lookout for leads on how best to navigate my new career path. When I came across your book, I decided to take a look with the hopes that it will lead me to the desired and rewarding cybersecurity destination.

I understand that this book is all one needs to know about PCIP 4.0: Payment Card Industry Professional Certificate Examination and the PCI-DSS standards. The learning objectives of this exam includes developing a fundamental understanding of the payment card industry, PCI standards, and how PCI DSS applies to cardholder data. This 4.0 version is more flexible and an improvement on the previous version. Its aim is to improve the security of our data. This version incorporates multifactor authentication and mentions that its importance is to ensure that only authorized users have access to cardholder data. Another benefit of version 4.0 is its emphasis that merchants are mandated to conduct regular risk assessments in order to discover loopholes and take necessary measures.

Almost every one of us has a debit or credit card with a CVC (card validation code) number at the back, but just like most people, I have never cared to know its meaning and use. The question of CVC meaning and use is answered by the author in this book. This book has salient tips that anyone preparing for the PCIP exam needs to know.

In it, I learned about the six control objectives and their 12 requirements, the PCI-QSA, PCI-ISA, and PCIP. The PCI-DSS six control objectives and their associated twelve requirements, self-assessment questionnaires (SAQs), and the appendix, etc.

I like the chapter summary included at the end of every chapter because it helps to establish and reinforce the salient points the author wants the reader to know. This book can pass as exam prep and will be most beneficial to anyone interested in writing the Payment Card Industry Professional Certificate Examination. The editors of this book were professional with their work, and I have no drawbacks about ‘Payment Card Industry Professional (PCIP) v4.0’ by John Meah, and as such, it receives a rating of five out of five stars.
