As Christians and humans, we are faced with temptations that sometimes prevent us from achieving what we set out to achieve. It may be a temptation to join a gang, or even a temptation or addiction. There are various ways to set our lives on the right path. In this book, Dwayne M. Thomas shares with us a transformation influenced by God. Dwanye begins by telling us about his arrival in California and how he has always had a burning desire to move there one day. Openly, he shares with us the challenges he faced while in California and how God helped turn his life around.

The book is a short read. I loved the fact that the author makes the book informative and includes even his personal experiences while making the book easy to read in a sitting. Dwanye is very interested in showing us the type of life we can lead when we commit our affairs to God and let him direct us. He shows us that believing in God does not automatically remove the temptations; we have to do more and put in the work to serve him with our bodies and souls. The author leaves room for thoughts on each completed chapter, and I appreciated this. He included Bible verses and his own opinions based on his experiences.

However, I wish that the book contained more details in certain areas. For instance, in the first chapter, the author mentions that he got into some trouble shortly after getting his first job in Bakersfield. Although the non-inclusion of this did not affect the book in a major way, I honestly would have wanted to know more about that mistake and why he felt that it was best for him to leave his family home. He also states in a different part of the book that grace kept him when he should have been in the obituary. I believe that sharing this story would have helped readers experience the transformative power of God in a different light, but I understand that he may not be ready to share it with the public.

"300 Dollars and 3 Suitcases: What’s Next?" was exceptionally edited. It is a beautiful read. Readers will learn that no one is a lost cause. Therefore, the book receives a rating of five out of five stars from me. The negative aspects I mentioned were simply things I would have loved to see; they did not really affect the message the author tried to pass across in a major way. I found no reason to rate the book lower.
