Review of Thank God It's Monday(?)
Tom C. Petersen's 'Thank God It’s Monday (?): Balancing Work and Faith While Keeping Your Sense of Humor' is a motivational book that focuses on how to navigate through the struggles of work while expressing and living by faith. The book argues that Monday should be a day to eagerly anticipate and not dread. The book talks about how the workplace can be a great environment to embody our faith and, at the same time, inspire colleagues to do the same. Tom provides some key takeaways on leadership, communications, and biblical tips on building and maintaining healthy collegial relationships.
The book also reveals the obstacles faced in the workplace when trying to balance work and faith. The author encourages readers to embrace life's challenges with a sense of humor, as this creates more room for faith and work to smoothly merge, thereby resulting in a purpose-filled life where everyone would thank God it's Monday. The book was an engaging and simple read. It is very funny and humorous, and some pages will have you rolling on the ground. Tom's writing style is direct and concise, and the vocabulary used in the book is simple. I loved the way the author narrates his experience and showcases his weaknesses in a comical light.
Each chapter was packed with valid points and moral lessons. Tom does a clean job of addressing all the potential challenges that people face when trying to live godly in an environment where the opposite is highly accepted. This is an undisputable book that should be read over and over again. I personally don't find anything I don't like about this book. I am pleased with the way it was written and the message it preaches. It is truth in its raw form. I couldn't find any errors when reading, which clearly informs me that the editing quality is remarkable.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is facing workplace issues and looking for solutions that are realistic while at the same time building character. I am going to give this book a rating of five out of five stars because I found no negative aspects from my point of view and no errors.
