The Chinese lived as extended families under a patriarchal system, evolving from primitive hunting and fishing communities. Key legendary figures like the First Perfect Emperors introduced essential cultural practices. Two significant beliefs, ancestor worship and nature worship, emerged early on. Ancestors, believed to have multiple souls, were venerated through rituals to avoid becoming vengeful spirits. In summer, Beijing buzzes with life as vendors sell cooling drinks and the streets resonate with cicadas.

The Dragon Boat Festival, rooted in ancient rituals and celebrating poet Qu Yuan's legacy. In northern China, the tenth month, known as "kind" or "benevolent," delights farmers. People light clay braziers to combat the cold. Traditions include burning paper offerings for the dead and enjoying seasonal treats. Bodhidharma, the first Chinese patriarch of the Buddhist Church, is celebrated on the fifth day.

The book "The Ultimate Guide Exploring the Chinese Culture Code" by Eckhard M. Goessl provides a comprehensive dive into the rich tapestry of Chinese culture, history, and traditions. Through this book, Goessl unravels the complexities of Chinese society, emphasizing the significance of festivals, religious practices, and philosophical teachings. One of the key aspects discussed is the Chinese calendar, which integrates both lunar and solar elements, illustrating the Chinese approach to harmonizing with natural cycles. The calendar's intricacies, such as its 19-year cycle and the use of heavenly stems and earthly branches to name years, showcase the sophisticated understanding of astronomy and timekeeping in ancient China. For these reasons, I gave it 5 out of 5 stars, and I had not found in this book any dislikes.

The book touches upon China's peaceful rise through trade, epitomized by the historical Silk Road, which contrasts with the more conflict-driven expansions of other great powers. This peaceful approach to growth has shaped China's interactions on the global stage, making it a pivotal player in today's economy. The book's editing is clean and flawless; it has no errors.

Goessl's guide serves as an essential resource for anyone looking to understand the unique cultural code that shapes Chinese life and thought. And also is suitable for readers who are business professionals, tourists, students, and anyone curious about Chinese culture, seeking to understand and navigate Chinese traditions, values, and social norms for personal or professional enrichment.

Thank you for your detailed review. There is so much to learn from this book, it's fascinating. It looks like the story starts from a long time ago, the time of primitive hunting and fishing. I will add this book to my shelves.
