The Biscayne Poet, aka Oscar Fuentes, has plunged his readers into the most intimate spaces of family life with his new release, Reliquias del Corazón: Historias de mi Familia. Born in Manhattan to Honduran immigrant parents and now based in Miami, Fuentes has shared his creative talents with the world for more than three decades. This book attests to his capacity to make the reader feel, with good use of resources taken from his own experience, and at the same time, it is a narrative produced with both personal and universal aspects.

In Reliquias del Corazón, Fuentes shares the intimate atmosphere of his family, telling stories that focus on the importance of love within families. The book weaves a tapestry of memories where every thread is so immaculately woven to portray the love, resilience, and strength from which family life is made. From simple joys of shared meals and festivities to immense challenges set by Alzheimer's disease, Fuentes encapsulates the entire emotional spectrum defining our relations with our loved ones.

The greatest feature about the book is how Fuentes can show intricate feelings in clear and simple words. His writing is so deep yet so readable that it almost leaves the readers with no room to feel disconnected from the situations he narrates. Whether one finds him telling of happiness or moments of grief, Fuentes does it with a sensitivity that seems to resonate profoundly and thus captures the reader.

Reliquias del Corazón is a book that speaks to the family values of any person. It is especially touching for readers who have had contact with Alzheimer's and offers insightful guidance on the disease's effect. The stories of Fuentes remind us that a family is the base of a person's life, and the connection that we share with our dear ones is one of the most valuable things we own.

I loved reading this book. I couldn't find anything that I disliked about the book. I'd love to rate this book a solid 5 out of 5 stars. There's nothing in the book that would make me deduct a star.

For those who appreciate narratives rich in emotion and meaning, Reliquias del Corazón is a must-read. Oscar Fuentes has crafted a work that is not only a tribute to his own family but also a celebration of the universal human experience of love and connection.
