Whether you are a beginner or already experienced in the marathon, I highly recommend you pick up a copy of The Marathon Magic Handbook: Expert Strategies and Secrets for Success by Joe Ward, as this will greatly help you in your training and competition adventures. The lessons are drawn from the author's wealth of experience as an accomplished ultrarunner and as the Head Coach and Founder of the Manly Beach Running Club. In the author's words, this club has transformed "more than 500 runners into marathon and ultra marathon powerhouses since 2012" (page 3, PDF version).

The first thing that appealed to me was Joe's language use; he wrote in such a friendly and engaging manner that I felt as though I was physically present receiving these lessons. This is followed by an impressive presentation. The book is meticulously pieced together in that, right from the beginning of the book, readers are presented with a clear picture of what to expect, the lessons are carefully titled, and memorable information is put in red print, all to facilitate the learning experience.

This book offers actionable day-to-day (Mondays to Sundays) plans on marathon training, highlighting various targets and measurable instruments to apply during each session. Throughout the book, Joe shares proven tips to guide readers through the marathon journey. I found his take on speed, pacing, strategy, and recovery interesting and impactful. The author also covered nutrition, hydration, treats, and sleep, noting their massive contribution to the overall output or performance. This book not only simplified marathon training for me but also increased my passion for the game. The author included his contact information for bookings, and I really look forward to enrolling in his class.

Considering the rich content and the clear presentation, I am delighted to rate The Marathon Magic Handbook: Expert Strategies and Secrets for Success five out of five stars. The text was thoroughly proofread. There is absolutely no complaint to report about this book.
