Title: Discovering Veganism
Author: Sarah Ngueyem

Vegan food is tempting and delicious, as the staple ingredients listed towards the end of the book seem to be. There are elements that traditional meat-eaters dismiss or avoid. Sarah Ngueyem's decision to become a vegan was prompted by a $100 bet and a promise to herself to at least try it for a full thirty days. It was not a decision she took lightly, as it was a lifestyle change in the kitchen and many other aspects of life. She writes that her health, spirituality and vitality have improved. A lack of iron and B12, especially during her pregnancy, caused some worry, but after her child was born, she resumed and has been reaping the benefits ever since.

I love the tone of optimism and gladness in her writing. She is so pleased with the results that she wants to share them; hence, this book was born! Many are considering taking this step, and her advice can definitely help.

I enjoyed her descriptions of her childhood in Africa.

I did not enjoy an aspect of the prose's style. I sensed a heavy influence of AI in the writing. It seemed too well written, using impersonal language at times. I could be wrong, but that is the impression that I got. It's strange because I enjoyed her chatty, conversational tone but felt it was a tad 'strained'.

If only there were some illustrations or recipes; I was disappointed there were none.

I found absolutely no grammatical mistakes. I enjoyed her enthusiasm and found her journey fascinating. However, as I mentioned, the stilted prose and lack of illustrations and recipes were disappointing, so I will award the book four stars out of five. There will be those on the fence about whether to become vegan, and this book will be helpful to them. It is undoubtedly a persuasive book.
