Review of The Art of Sexuality
The Art of Sexuality by Julia Sarno is an adult book offering guidance for a fulfilling sex life. The book combines ancient wisdom and modern science to educate readers.
Eight thousand years ago, Daoist masters taught emperors how to retain seminal fluid by controlling ejaculations. It is a misconception that a man has to ejaculate each time he has sex and that it is the only way to orgasm. The secret to longevity and strength lies within ejaculating infrequently. Frequent ejaculation can cause baldness, vision problems, and weakened physical health due to the loss of nutrients, hormones, and vitamins. Mastering this technique can enable a man to make love several times daily and deepen love in their relationships. This practice and understanding of anatomy and arousal can lead to fulfilling intimacy, release of happy hormones, and mental and physical well-being.
This book contains scientific, biological, and anatomical facts with ancient Chinese wisdom. I enjoyed the biological processes that are explained effectively and loved the emphasis on intimacy increasing our mental and physical health. I found the explanations of Daoist wisdom fascinating. The author believes that men should not ejaculate often. Statements are made that are not facts, such as frequent ejaculations drain life force and cause baldness. Although this is interesting, it is not proven. This idea may be beneficial for increased and prolonged love-making, but I think the notion of frequent ejaculation causing harm is a bold statement.
I particularly enjoyed the clear guidance on different aspects of intimacy. There are clear instructions for oral sex, penetration, and locating erogenous zones. Some diagrams and illustrations help the reader with anatomical locations. The author even adds helpful tips for dirty talk. There is something for everyone to learn in the book. Even the worldly wise will gain an education in the valley orgasm and the million-dollar spot.
The author discusses the harmonisation of yin and yang energies and how male and female lovers connect. I enjoyed these parts of the book as they give a good insight into the levels of arousal in both genders and what each gender requires to experience ecstasy. I also liked that the author advocates letting go of self-confidence issues and concentrating on deep emotional connections.
The book is edited very well. I loved the clear and honest guidance and enjoyed the science and biology aspects. The book contains wonderful messages of love, understanding, and bonding. The ancient wisdom included is fascinating. However, I don’t think that it can be taken as fact and could potentially be misinforming the readers. I found the book informative and insightful. I rate the book 4 out of 5 stars.
