Review of The Gold Nuggets For Podcast
Podcasting is more than just talking into a microphone. According to Lillian Cauldwell, a podcast is a form of audio or video communication that solves problems. Podcasts come in many different formats, including solo podcasts, interview podcasts, storytelling podcasts, educational podcasts, and functional podcasts.
Many people want to start a podcast but often fail because they overlook substantial aspects. In the first episode of "Part One: Podcast for Podcasters and Influencers," the author emphasizes the importance of research, which can help your podcast stand out from the crowd. The second episode discusses the 7Cs of communication, such as courtesy, coherence, and clarity. It also asserts that hosts are responsible and accountable for their content. The third episode focuses on the presentation of podcasts and personalities. The fourth episode covers interviews, and the author encourages hosts to make their guests shine and stick to the structure of the interview.
My attention was drawn to the sixth episode. Here, Lillian focuses on the topics and contents of podcasts. She emphasizes the importance of choosing a compelling title and a topic that will interest the audience. The steps of putting together a podcast are insightful. She encourages the hosts to observe honesty by acknowledging the sources of information. It is essential not only for ethical reasons but also to avoid legal trouble.
In "Part Two: Podcasting for Business," Viki Esther Chang shares valuable insights on leveraging social media for business growth. With the immense transformation of the global economy into the digital economy, every business must invest in digital marketing. Get a copy of this book to find priceless tips for CEOs to stay ahead of the competition and how to get started.
This book was informative. I acquainted myself with ways to keep an audience engaged, which requires creativity. I learnt the components and equipment needed to set up a basic studio. I appreciated the author's suggestion to use economical resources, such as blankets, to soundproof the walls. I also liked the emphasis on projecting one's personality in one's work while still respecting others.
The organization of the topics and subtopics in Gold Nuggets for Podcast calls for improvement. Although the content is informative, it was difficult to follow the structure. For example, the author mentions that there are five components of a podcast marketing plan, but they are not clearly defined. Additionally, I expected to find the components of a studio in the "Studios and Equipment" section, but they were instead placed in a different chapter that is not closely related. Some areas of the book also contain points that I couldn't understand. These points seem to be unfinished drafts. Another round of editing would help to rectify the improper formatting of particulars and grammatical errors.
I found the podcasting topic in the book to be largely enjoyable, but I would only give it 2 out of 5 stars overall. I deducted significant points due to the negative attributes highlighted. However, anyone considering starting or growing a podcast would still find this book valuable.
