Review of The EASY Long COVID Handbook (The Complete Long COVID Handbook)
Title: The EASY long COVID handbook
Author: Robert Groysman MD
There are many books out there about the recent 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. This one concerns the lasting effects that have stayed with many people. This condition has been termed Long COVID or Long Hauler's. It has many symptoms, including chest, stomach, endocrine, and nerve problems, as well as alterations to taste and smell. Dr. Robert Groysman explains everything in readable and simple terms.
This is a simplified version of The Complete Long COVID handbook, Volume 1, covering everything from the symptoms and possible causes to the treatment options.
There are so many different types of afflictions that it causes, and some of these surprised me, such as hair loss and psychological problems. The treatments are also very varied, including herbal and vitamin supplements and light and noise alterations to be implemented in the home. The chapters include everything needed to help with Long COVID, including paediatric care. If I had long COVID, this would definitely be part of my reading material!
Having enjoyed studying biology and taken it to an advanced level at school, I recognised many of the terminology. I realise that many people might not have the same knowledge as me. This said, it was not a difficult and complicated book and was a pleasure to read. A medical dictionary might be useful to have at hand.
I loved the spaced-apart paragraphs and pointers; this kept the reading compelling and straightforward. If the prose had been bunched up, it would have been hard to unravel the important parts. There were some helpful coloured tables, which I liked.
I disliked nothing about this book. It was succinctly written and well-researched, and the editing was perfect. Because of these reasons, I will award it five out of five stars. I recommend this book to all those who have, sadly, been afflicted with Long COVID.
