Review of Herbal Remedies and Natural Medicine Wisdom
HERBAL REMEDIES AND NATURAL MEDICINE WISDOM
By J. R. WINSTON
Are you seeking alternatives to managing your health? This book is for you. The author covers everything from the basics of herbal remedies to the complexities of a holistic approach to healing and living a healthier lifestyle. I learned the fundamentals, including how to grow herbs and create concoctions, teas, tinctures, and topicals. I discovered how to make oils, infusions, creams, and other topical treatments.
I appreciated the author's straightforward writing style. The book is written in terms I could easily understand. The information is laid out logically, taking me step by step from choosing herbs to understanding what each herb will supply to the mix and on to the last chapter, which encourages continued learning and exploration of this intriguing subject. A detailed description of each herb, including its beneficial properties and what it does, such as increasing white blood cells, is explained masterfully.
My favorite part of the book is the beginner-friendly recipes for each herb and condition. After reading this book, I feel the herbal recipes are worth a try. I am ready to try some recipes, but as the author recommends, always consult your healthcare professional first. A glossary of essential terms, including definitions and descriptions of herbs, can be found in the book's back pages to aid the learning experience.
Beginning with starting herbs from seeds versus seedlings and ending with helping create a community of like-minded people to encourage continued growth, this book explains it all. By the book's end, I had a good start knowing what herbs to put in my herbal medicine toolkit.
Unfortunately, I was uncomfortable with the number of editing errors I found in the book. The book's editing lacks the necessary attention to detail. I would humbly recommend the author implement a more rigorous editing process. For this reason, I have deducted one star from my rating. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
I recommend this book to everyone, especially those looking for an alternative choice for a more holistic, natural path to health. This book is free of profanity, and the only sexual references were introduced as clinical references.
