Title: A Beginner's Dream Scene Adventures

In this relatively short book, Doreen Lindahl has created a wonderful place where we can all escape when we fall asleep. Drift off, and you will find yourself in a colourful, peaceful, scenic paradise, away from the harsh realities of the day. This place is called your Dream Scene. Easier said than done, you may say, to achieve this state, but in my opinion, it is very much like learning to meditate, which is a valuable aid to happiness and serenity, similar to the 'mind-holiday' of sleeping. From the beginning, Doreen encourages us to sit back, relax and read, which is a tempting prospect.

I found it quite childish at times, like a fairytale, with its animals and flowers, and leant towards being feminine. Despite this, I enjoyed reading about how to be a happy person with the use of a special light and to spread this light to others who need it. It does not seem to be a religious book, in the traditional sense.

The dreams are set out in chapters such as 'Music Dream', 'Pink Quartz Dream', and 'Lake Dream'. During these dreams, she meets new friends and learns how to concentrate on the process of forming a new dream and how to be serene in the glow of the aforementioned light. I found it to be an intriguing, innocent and light read, but not with the depth and drama that I would get from a really absorbing book. I will award it four stars out of five.

The editing was perfect. The occasional small illustrations were enjoyable and simple. Although a small child might have difficulty understanding it, I recommend this book for everyone, although, as I have mentioned, it is a tad childish and feminine. I have to say that sometimes the dreams are so perfect that they are almost nightmarish in their gaudiness and colour, with strange people giving their advice, but this is just my opinion. I enjoyed it as a whole with my dislikes mentioned above.
