This is a book that promises to entertain and inspire, rich and diverse in narrative and description. The author also takes various trips that inspire him and continue his narrative. It's a highly recommended book to read and enjoy while learning from the author's experiences.
My first take away from this review is that, indeed we must chose our friends wisely. The author's life was directed by his circumstances since the beginning. Luckily, he is on the path to better himself.
Hmmm....interesting. I wonder whether the number 600 is taken at random, such as a gazillion, or whether there's a numerical significance to the number of criminals. Seems like an honest thriller. Congrats.
In 600 Devils, Marjan’s sophisticated narrative, laced with similes and existential reflections, transforms his journey through marijuana smuggling into a profound exploration of life’s essence, making his tale both thrilling and thought-provoking.
Marjan’s rejection of societal norms, rooted in the emotional void left by his parents’ struggles in a post-communist refugee camp, drives his descent into the underworld, painting a complex portrait of a man both shaped and haunted by his past.
The author's had quite a life! I can't imagine what being born in a refugee camp would do to someone's psyche, not including having a dysfunctional family and getting mixed up with the world of drugs. 600 Devils by Marjan sounds intriguing!
600 Devils by Marjan sounds interesting, and I’m curious to see how Marjan handles the smuggling business despite the risks and the consequences that await him.
The book covers different themes from drug smuggling, wealth, personality disorder and spirituality. Marjan living in riches from his drug smuggling job makes him have a wide experience in life. It arises the question of spirituality in his life journey..
600 Devils seems like a great memoir. Marjan's life is quite fascinating. I look forward to reading about his adventures and thoughts. I'm sure this book will be entertaining and enlightening to read. Congratulations on making botd!
This book sounds interesting. It seems Marjan had a tough upbringing as he was brought up in a refugee camp with parents who were fighting there demons and this may have destroyed him emotional and his self esteem.Maybe that's why he accepts willingly to smuggle weed. It's good that in the end he turns his life around.
"600 Devils" by Marjan is a story about the author’s life in the underworld of illegal smuggling of marijuana. Marjan was born in a refugee camp in Austria in the aftermath of the communist incursion in Slovenia. His childhood was difficult due to his parents battling many demons from that horrible period. As a result Marjan grew up with a lack of desire to conform to the normal patterns of the material world. His friend Alberto introduced him to a pot dealer, his first exposure to an underworld business. Marjan and his uncle Aloyz, met Mario who was impressed with Marjan’s knowledge so Mario invited him to come to Thailand to visit him. When Marjan went to Thailand he learned that Mario was a Corsican kingpin that ran a large smuggling network. Coming from an early life in a refugee camp, Marjan really enjoyed the life Mario’s business brought him. Marjan comes clean in the book by admitting this story is his confession on his path to redemption. Living a life of crime includes the fear hidden beneath the wealth. 600 Devils is a fascinating story of an outlaw with a spiritual consciousness. This book should interest people that are enthralled by organized crime, thinking that the wealth they may gain is worth the risk and they are not afraid of spending many years of their lives in prison or having their lives ended by a rival criminal or a shoot out with the police. In the 1970s the Chicago mob was very active and many of these criminals ended up dead in a car trunk. There are probably many more people that will want to read this book for the inspiration from Marjan’s journey from refugee to smuggler to ultimately confessing his crimes and seeking a path to redemption.
Marijuana smuggling is dangerous and criminal, so this book offers a safe place for normal people to experience what it feels like to breathe in this profession from Marjan's eyes. That's the best part of the book.
Though I don't think this is for me, the life of a real-life drug smuggler would provide so much insight into the world of drug smuggling, and that Marjan was able to change would also inspire those with similar stories to change. Thanks for the review!
