Do You Hate the One You Love? by Joan E. Childs was a beautiful read all about better understanding your partner and better understanding yourself. It’s a book of strategies for healing and saving your relationship; it’s like a guide for intimacy and partnership. I rate this book 5 out of 5.

Something I really enjoyed while reading this book was how gentle and compassionate the author appeared through their writing. Joan E. Childs touches on her experience as a clinical social worker and some background of the tests she has conducted, giving the readers a feel for her expertise and professionalism. That professionalism was confirmed further as I read on; there is no harsh judgment in these pages, and the mood was understanding and reassuring. The author doesn’t act superior, which I greatly appreciate as a reader. It made this a more captivating experience, and I believe every couple could benefit from reading this book.

There is a plethora of different examples and stories in Do You Hate the One You Love?, something for everyone to relate to. I enjoyed reading the real-life accounts of some of the author’s past clients; it added a feeling of raw humanity to the book. It also helped provide a comfortable space for us readers to feel understood.

I didn’t find any spelling or grammar issues while reading, leading me to give this book a perfect score. The writing and editing were incredible!

Overall, Do You Hate the One You Love? by Joan E. Childs is a helpful guide for couples hoping to heal or save their struggling relationships. I’d recommend this to all adult couples, even the ones that aren’t struggling; there is valuable information for everyone within these pages. This book isn’t just aimed at women either! It’s a comfortable, safe space for everyone to learn something.

The feature I would appreciate in the book, apart from the author's tone, is the use of cases or real-life examples. The book seems to touch on a very important topic, and hence I look forward to reading it in future. Thank you, @Emily Walmsley, for the amazing review.
