In this world, everything has been evolving, and it will continue to evolve. People are adopting different ways of doing things, and so are negotiation skills. If negotiators do not continuously acquire knowledge or evolve, they will suffer several significant challenges and consequences, and the organizations or institutions they work for will incur so many losses. The book EVOLVE or Be Slaughtered: Negotiation for the 21st Century by Derrick Chevalier introduces readers to the Comprehensive Negotiating Strategies Universal Framework (CNSUF™) that helps negotiators become the best and achieve the best results.

It introduces readers to the six foundational tenets that involve predicting the response of our counterparts, testing assumptions, presumptions, and estimates, influencing actions, minimizing risks, maximizing results of the negotiation, and increasing knowledge and skills. It also enabled me to understand the CNSUF™ continuum, which has three modes: the Omni Mode Group, the Conditional Mode Group, and the Co-Opetitive Mode Group, which helps negotiators understand their counterparts and use the appropriate modes during the negotiation process.

Understanding the right questions to ask during negotiation is important. I was able to understand the IWWWWWH (pronounced "IOWA") questions, which is an acronym for if, who, what, why, when, where, and how. Reading this book made me understand that negotiating with big firms is more difficult than I thought. This book is the 2025 edition in The Beyond Negotiating series. To understand the book or negotiation clearly, I recommend readers start reading the first books in the series, as understanding them will make it easier to get every lesson to be learned in this book.

Derrick Chevalier used real-life relatable examples like driving gears and systems in manual shift cars, as he says knowing the right gears and brakes will always make driving smoother. He also used the recent example of the Israel-Hamas war and the great actors like Brad Pitt and others to bring the lessons home. I must mention that the book is not too long; I didn't tire of reading it. The book was exceptionally well edited with well-explained exhibits that made my reading smooth and enjoyable, as I encountered no grammatical errors. There is absolutely nothing to change about the book. It was educational and eye-opening to me. Therefore, I give it a perfect rating of 5 stars out of 5 stars for all the positives.

This is a book I highly recommend to all negotiators, including potential ones. It is not just a book written by anyone; it is written by Derrick Chevalier, an experienced person who has over 25 years of combined experience in sales, management consulting, business and interpersonal negotiations, mediation, and real estate. He has also done many negotiations around the world, which makes the author one of the best teachers in the field of negotiation and mediation.

I'm impressed by how you highlighted the CNSUF™ framework and the IWWWWWH questions, making complex negotiation concepts clear. It's great that the real-life examples, like the Israel-Hamas war, resonated. Your 5-star rating for this educational and well-edited book is well-deserved. Thanks!
