Book Description

This is a review for 'My self serving book of facebook statuses and notes' written by Vinnie Rinaudo. It is literally what the title of the book implies. There is nothing deceiving or misleading about the name.

As the author states on Amazon, there is no plot. It's just fun (or insulting) blurbs about nothing in particular. Some are funny, some are sexist, and some are just plane stupid. In other words: a little bit of something for everyone.

About the Book

It is a man's attempt at humor with his friends on Facebook. Low brow, sometimes vile or insulting humor. Much like the vast majority of humor but with more insult peppered throughout.

If you are unable to tolerate racism, religion, sexist, just plane rudeness or many other things that people often take insulting, then this book is not for you.

Personal Opinions and Rating

I rate this book 1 out of 4 stars. I couldn't give it a higher rating as I only know one single person I would ever consider giving this book to and honestly, I don't like her that much. Parts were humorous while a lot of it didn't make sense or was just wrong. When I say wrong I don't mean the facts were wrong, no I mean it is just disturbing that someone actually can think that way or that they would even consider putting those ideas out into the world for others to scoff at.

I admit I did find parts of the first section funny. Even laughed a few times when I was actually appalled. Really, some things are still funny despite the fact they are messed up. I would recommend the first part of the book to be read. A lot is crap but some is actually fun and other parts are kind of deep. The second section was mostly crap (for lack of a better fitting word). Some is sweet but most is opinionated stuff being shoved down your throat.

The easiest way to not get insulted by this book is simple...don't read it. But if you think you're made of sterner stuff, give it a whirl. What's the worst that's going to happen? You're eyes will be opened about something or you'll feel a little dumber after finishing this book than you were to begin with.

It is somewhat interesting to get a peek at someone's internal ranting. However like usual, they probably should have stayed inside the mind or on Facebook for people who are already accustomed to his particular kind of humor.

I didn't hate this book but I could not recommend this book to others unless they have a twisted sense of humor.

Basically if you're the type of person who gets offended...at all, don't read this book.

If you want to hear someone's screwy ramblings, this is worth a read. I just wouldn't recommend reading this around anybody. Not the type of book you want to have to explain why you're laughing to anybody. Mind you a stoner buddy would probably be the exception.

If you have a warped, kinda screwed up sense of humor then this book's for you. It makes a great light read if you want something that doesn't matter if you randomly stop or start. It would be an excellent choice for a bathroom read.

So to summarize, it wasn't very good as a whole but some parts are worth a peak at. If you think you want to give it a try...go for it but remember, you've been warned.

wow, seems like a narcissistic person trying to inflate his ego further. That I can do without.
