Review of 'I Am Malala' by Malala Yousafzai by Sienna Wilder

Sienna Passes on I Am Malala (from my Goodreads blog)

This remarkable book was recommended to me by my wife and two friends, but I hate to say that I didn't finish it. I borrowed it from the library, it was a 2-week loan, and I just couldn't get into it. I may wish to own it someday, because the first 40 or so pages, and the last 20, which I did read, gave interesting insights into the Pashtun culture and the Middle East. There are pictures in the hardcover too. That was enough for me. The history and culture of the Swat Valley, Pakistan and Afhanistan are certainly worth understanding, and Malala's sweet and passionate point of view is lovely. But unfortunately, not compelling enough to keep me going, when I have too much else on my mind. I still think this is probably an amazing book, just not my cup of tea at this point in time. This sixteen year old is wise and wonderful; I wish Malala, her foundation, and her people, the best.
