I consider myself to be quite the foodie. I manage all the menu planning, shopping, and cooking in our house. This means I am constantly on the lookout for new recipes. Typically I like recipes that don't involve a lot of steps, that don't take much time to create, and that use mostly ingredients I already have on hand. When I was offered the chance to review Asian Recipes by Muhammad Saleem Malik, I jumped on it. Could this be the bold new flavor I was looking for?

Asian Recipes presents Asian recipes in a classic cookbook format. As most cookbooks, it does feature an index. This way you can see what goodies wait for you inside. Each recipe includes a title, a picture, ingredients list, directions, and nutritional information. Each component of the recipe is easily distinguished from the next. I, personally, like that I'm able to see the end product before I attempt to make the dish. I also think it's very handy that the author chose to include nutritional information. Now days a lot of people are on special or restricted diets. I, myself, have to watch my sodium intake. Including this information eliminates the guessing game.

This cookbook also meets all of my requirements. There aren't many steps involved in each dish, each dish cooks in a fairly decent amount of time, and there aren't any ingredients that I don't already have or that I can't just grab at the local supermarket. Not to mention the fact that all of the dishes sound really delicious. I would have been convinced that this cookbook is just what my family needed, but...

I do have a few issues. The first issue being, these aren't really Asian recipes. Not like you'd find in Asia. These are more Americanized Asian recipes. With that being said, I don't really have any issues with American Asian food, but I really was hoping to see some traditional Asian recipes. The second issue I had was the fact that I can find similar recipes online. If I wasn't reviewing this cookbook, I probably wouldn't buy it for that fact alone. I, personally wouldn't spend money on a cookbook featuring recipes I can find online. For free.

In the end I rate Asian Recipes : Cook Delicious Flavored Spicy And Tasty Asian Recipes Now by Muhammad Saleem Malik 2 out of 4 stars simply for the fact that you can find similar things online.
