This is my review of Inspirational Articles to Ponder by Rubinstyn Bluthenthal.

Inspirational Articles to Ponder is a 188 page book that reads like a mixture between an inspirational and a devotional. It will appeal to most Judeo-Christians, in particular the older generations. In Inspirational Articles to Ponder, the author covers many topics from a Judeo-Christian viewpoint. From veterans to marriage, from family history to the public school system, the author is very vocal on a wide plethora of issues.

Mr. Bluthenthal (the author) cites the Bible, namely the King James 1611 version throughout the entire book. There are many pages that are dedicated to a single verse from the King James Bible (always the 1611 version).

There are several good points brought up in this book from both a theological viewpoint and a conservative American viewpoint. It should be noted that this book will only appeal to conservatives when it comes to most issues.

I was very excited to review this book as I consider myself to be firmly in both camps as a Christian and a conservative. Unfortunately, this book was very difficult for me to get through. The author manages to jump from issue to issue with shocking randomness, from discussing the need to revamp the VA system (for veterans) to discussing men and their sexual identity and just as quickly between Israel’s importance in the world to how we can fix the American economy. He talks about being born and raised in South Central Los Angeles…..several times. Most of the articles are repeated in one form or another at different parts of the book. Dispersed throughout the book are pages and pages of single Scripture references. Strangely enough, one of the last articles read like a tourist brochure for the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, complete with phone numbers and hours of operation.

I did enjoy reading the articles that discussed the author’s life and personal anecdotes though they were mostly bare bones and would have been much more enjoyable if they were filled in much more. Personally, while I agree with most of his theological points, the sheer amount of grammatical errors made it very difficult to get through.

Although Inspirational Articles to Ponder is 188 pages long, in my opinion it would be better if it were condensed and HEAVILY edited to a much shorter length. I regret deeply that I must give this a rating of 1 out of 4 stars.

Thank you for the review, Paliden. I, too, am interested in religion which is why I clicked on this book. I appreciate how clearly you have articulated the standpoint from which the author may be coming from and who might appreciate his book, specifically American conservative Christians. While I don't count myself as among the intended audience of the book (as I am not American and not conservative, but Christian), I nevertheless appreciate the author's effort to talk about contemporary issues in the light of faith. However, I find the flaws you've mentioned major and discouraging. I hope that the author can take your review as motivation to improve on his work.

Very nice review. I wish that the author could have had more meat on the bones too as I would have then been quite interested in reading his book.

Sounds like a disappointing book when it comes to writing and structure. I'm also not conservative so this isn't the book for me. But I enjoyed your review!
