End the Fed by Ron Paul

Post by MikeyB3883 »

Curious about the function of the Federal Reserve and why a former congressman and former presidential candidate would want to close what is considered by many am essential governmental entity. This book tackles much of the pertinent history in the early United States and why the Constitution does not have a central bank and the history of central banks in he United States and how they have adversely effected the economy. Paul addresses the more contemporary recession and housing bubble burst and how they were directly a result of the policies of the Federal Reserve. It is clear from this book that the Federal Reserve is in no way a governmental agency and thus has no oversight and yet is allowed to determine all monetary policy for the United States. Paul also dives into the schools of thought within the field of economics and shows the differences of understanding between Keynesian and Austrian economic theories. The writing is clear and lucid and demonstrates deep thought and a thorough knowledge of the political system, monetary policy, and economics. A must read for any policy wonk or any serious student of constitution.
