Do I Stand Alone by Jesse Ventura

Post by rossallen »

Do I Stand Alone by Jesse Ventura is another political manifesto from the mind of the zany independent governor of Minnesota. His previous book I Ain't Got Time to Bleed deals more with his upbringing than it does his political philosophy. This book is straight-up political philosophy Jesse Ventura-style, with anecdotes to address the issues sprinkled throughout.

As previously mentioned, Jesse deals exclusively with some of the leading issues of the day in this book. Particular among them are his thoughts on the drug war, his qualms and many run-ins with the media (who deems as jackals), and his vision for the state of Minnesota while he finishes out his term in office. Jesse is very candid about his thoughts, and address each of the issues in a no holds-barred manner which is very refreshing for the audience. Many political memoirs and manifestos tend to pussyfoot around the issues, giving canned answers for every societal woe that seems to be addressing the nation. Not so with Jesse. He calls 'em as he sees 'em, which proves for a very interesting read throughout.
