On Becoming Baby Wise

Post by 2ira »

On Becoming Baby Wise by Gary Ezzo, M.A and Robert Bucknam, M.D. is a book for parents to help them get their newborn to sleep through the night. It has a lot of useful information about babies and ways to coordinate their babies sleep, eat, and wake cycles to benefit the baby and the parents.

As a first time mom-to-be this book is very useful. It has a lot of information in it that I didn't even know about and I know will help me with my baby. Among all the people around me throwing advice at me for the baby (like all moms-to-be tend to get) it's nice to have some expert advice I can read and reread if needed. The great thing about this book is that it's not saying it's a miracle work for getting babies to sleep through the night. The writers remind readers that it is a lot of work getting a baby on a schedule and takes time, but by following their tips and following your motherly instincts it is possible.

Like I said, there is a lot of information in this book. It also gives fictional examples of families who follow Baby Wise tips and families who don't and how their baby and life can differ. There are tips on breast feeding, burping, how to get your infant to sleep, some dos and don'ts of what to do when putting baby to sleep, and how much and when to feed baby. Also, there are places you can write in yourself to make a schedule for baby.

This is definitely a book I will be referencing back to when I have my baby and in the future with more kids.
