I absolutely love what I have read of The Sugar Queen so far! Even though the sexual abuse is a bit hard for me to read, I love a strong-willed woman and Lina seems to fit that description. :)

Great job on the review of this book! It sounds like you captured it quite well. Unfortunately, I'm not an avid reader of non-fiction so I will pass on reading this book.

Great review!!! One thing I admire is Lina's perseverance when the tough situation arises. Also, She decided to show her son the love she never had. What a unique way to confronting life. I know a lot will learn from your experiences. Thank you.

What an incredible review. This is a book I will put on my bookshelf. Memoirs are not for me but this sounds very interesting. Great review.

This review I must admit that is very close to the spirit of this book. The description gives its deserved homage to the author and her struggle to reach her dreams. Having a child to care for in her twenties and being alone facing the world, she succeeded in building an empire. The two stories narrated in this book make it some good reference to talk about it.

For a powerful memoir about successes, enthusiasm and determination in the face of a rocky childhood, look kobfurther than this one!

An abused childhood and successful life -- this reminds me of Oprah. On a sickbed she had the epiphany for a gainful life and of being of benefit to others. Her's was really an inspirational journey, though an uphill climb. Another feather to the cap of the Feminist Movement. I'll add this to my want-to-read list. Thanks for the review.

Wow, an amazing story of a girl that faced a lot of abuse at a very tender age. Books like this are very touching. This seems like an eventful and interesting story. I will love to read this book. Nice review.

I second the reviewer - wow! I love memoirs. And this one intrigues me by a really good story of a strong independent woman. Can't wait to read it!
