"Last Dance" by Stephen Manning is a compelling tale that beautifully balances themes of love, loss, and redemption. The novel follows the lives of its central characters as they navigate the complexities of relationships and the inevitable passage of time. Manning’s writing is both lyrical and evocative, drawing readers into a world where emotions are deeply felt and expertly conveyed.

The story is driven by richly developed characters whose personal struggles and triumphs resonate with authenticity. Each character’s journey is intricately woven into the broader narrative, creating a tapestry of human experience that feels both universal and deeply personal. Manning’s ability to explore complex emotions—grief, longing, hope—adds depth to the narrative, making it more than just a simple love story.

The pacing of the novel is deliberate, allowing readers to fully immerse themselves in the emotional landscape of the story. Manning’s prose is elegant, often poetic, which enhances the novel’s contemplative tone. While the plot unfolds slowly, it does so with purpose, leading to a satisfying and emotionally impactful conclusion.

Overall, "Last Dance" is a beautifully written novel that lingers in the mind long after reading, offering a poignant reflection on the nature of love and the human condition.

The breath-catching Last Dance and a Loving Mother by Stephen Manning is so touching novel that investigates the life of a mother, who loses her child. It deals with such issues as love, loss, and how far a parent will go to look after and reassure a child. Describing the moments of one family’s ordeal, Manning manage to express their struggle using the great, universally popular plot – love of the mother.

I do love to read a good love story. So many times the love stories I read are fictional and the plot and character development come from the imagination of the author. I will be interested in reading a “true” love story even though you report that the first part of the book gets bogged down. I will read it though I might just scan through that boring sounding part.

The Last Dance: And a Loving Mother is Stephen Manning's very moving memoir of the poetic grandeur of love and loss, but it also speaks of the powerful permanence that lies behind human bonds. This book has received a perfect 5-star rating from four Official OnlineBookClub.org reviewers and in excess of 200 five-star ratings on Amazon—a true power of love, resilience of the human spirit. Manning's memoir details his relationship with his wife from when they first met to their eventual marriage, the birth of children, and finally to the heart-wrenching moment of her passing just 72 hours after their son's wedding. It is a very emotional read, and in the most personal, sad moments of her life, readers get sucked into the details. What makes this book stand out is that deep personal sorrow has been translated into the universal story of love and memory. Tenderness and respect enlighten the portrayal that this author made of his wife, who in his life was a tender mother, a loving wife, and a dear friend. It is a beautiful and at the same time heartbreaking love story that gives readers one of life's biggest lessons: how short it can be, yet how great the impressions of love can be. One of the things that sets Last Dance apart is the writing style of the author. Manning writes with an honesty and vulnerability that is refreshing and deeply affecting. By the clarity with which he conveys his emotions, he enables readers to become thoroughly consumed by his story and to experience the highs—joyful memories—but also the lows of devastating loss with him. Another reason the book is so emotionally deep is the way Manning captures small, intimate moments added together that make for a life well-lived. From the cheer of his children growing up to those silent moments with his wife, these glimpses into his life are what really made the memoir so relatable and powerful. Last Dance: And a Loving Mother is an exquisitely written, emotionally resonant memoir that is bound to make a lasting impression on readers. It is a must-read for any person who has loved, lost, and who appreciates stories that speak to the heart. Manning's tribute to his wife is not only the celebration of her life but the reflection of the enduring power of love. This book deserves every one of its five-star ratings, and it is a story that will stay with you long after the final page is turned.

Thank you for your wonderful review. I remember seeing a review on this a while back and thought the sample was great. I'm glad to read that you enjoyed it too. I thought it was a lovely love story about a great marriage. I gladly downloaded the book and hope to read all of it as it is on my list of BTR. I'm glad to hear that it was professionally edited too. While there is much sadness with her illness, there is also much love and family too.

I'm in two minds about this book. Yes for one, I would love to read their journey together and how the author brings tribute to his wife, but secondly, I'm not sure I'm ready for the tragedy of cancer. That is a rather sore subject for me. Thanks for a lovely review. Congrats on BOTD and thanks for the free book.
