The review was very informative, and the book seems fascinating. These recounts were when the author was in Vietnam, and his experience is engaging. The author discussed a sensitive topic in such a short novel, and reading the review has made it very intriguing what type of situations he faced and the outcome to them.

The book seems to be on Vietnam war but it is more on the racial discrimination and its social impact on people world wide including Vietnam. An eye opener account. Thanks for a clear and precise review.

In my opinion, the Vietnamese war has received its fair share of recounting. I look forward to reading this one written from the perspective of a black man. Thanks for the great review.

I've always heard how bad Vietnamese treats outsiders and how racist they are. I didn't want to believe this and have a prejudice of them. But seeing this story now i guess it will clear out the fog that i have about it. Great review.

I went to Basic Training and AIT with primarily black enlistees. There was not any stigma nor racism exhibited during the 8 years I served. While I wasn't in Vietnam, it sounds odd to me that the focus on race is so strong. We were taught to work as a team and treat one another as equals. I don't believe this book is one for me.

An account of the Vietnamese war from a black American soldier. It is good to get the account from the perspective of a black soldier so as to understand their experience during the war. Thanks for this review.

The book documents a black soldier's time in Vietnam and highlights the race relations between him, the Vietnamese, and his white counterparts. The author touches on many pertinent issues, and lovers of historical nonfiction will enjoy it.

This looks like it would be a great read for readers who like books about war. Given that the content is non-fiction, if a reader is sensitive to these topics, they may want to skip over it. Thanks for the review! :)

An interesting perspective on war that you don't find every day. Without a doubt, the author offers in his memoirs something hard to find, which in turn is valuable to understand the Vietnamese of the time and even the racial problems they faced with their fellow troops. Thank you for this review, this is a book I will surely read.
