I think it was really brave of the author to have written this memoir, especially talking about the not so beautiful part of her life.

I think it was so brave of the author to write all about the traumatic things she went through, she gives other people out there who are being or have been abused a voice, power to speak. This is really one of the most heart felt books I've ever read :( 😪

I've always love reading memoirs that talked about one's life challenges. I tend to learn a lot from them. Nice book.

It is important that we own our stories and tell our own stories. It is inspiring that this author did, despite the terrible experiences such as sexual abuse (by an adult who ordinarily should be a protector).
May we all own our stories.

This sounds like a book I would easily relates with. For instance, being punished for chores, the many home addresses, and the family pets. I congratulate the author on being the BOTD!

The non linear flow seems interesting though of course our memories have been shown to have less continuity than we thank. I wonder if this also has to do with how she sees herself such as starting in adulthood first

This is indeed a 'memoir in fragments'. However, I love how the author is able to tell her life's story in it's fragments succinctly and clearly. It's one I'd love to read, partly due to her writing style, and partly due to my love for memoirs. Thanks for your explicitly written review. I loved it!

I enjoy that the author uses a non-linear narration, as we often feel and remember things from our past. Healing and growing aren't linear. I am not usually a fan of memoirs, but this one seems like one I would enjoy so much.

The format of the book sounds like how we talk in normal life. Generally, an event that we remember doesn't start with our childhood, but begins a conversation that starts at one point, may go back, and then triggers another memory that is more recent. I am not a big fan of memoirs, but this one sounds intriguing. Great review!

Everytime I read about someone who tells their story, I envy and at the same time applaud their courage in doing so. No matter how much we think we can ignore our bitterness, nobody is a private peaceful. We all need a form of outlet so I find strength from those who had the courage to free themselves of that misery. Congrats BOTD and well done Jeannine Ouellette.

One way or another, we as humans encounter traumas in life. Some of which have recovered from and some we are still recovering from. This is a memoir that had caught my attention and i’ll love to read it to know how Jennifer recovered from her trauma and tell her story in writing. Thank you for the review

'Official Review: The Part That Burns' by Jeannine Quellette is a useful and informative description of the book for readers. The merits of the author shine through the words in the review. The point that the author writes about her family life growing up, motherhood, and her trauma recovery is worth mentioning in the review. Also, the point that the book uses mirrored symbolism of the author's subconscious mind, as mentioned in the review, is remarkable for readers. It was great to learn that the book is based on a true family drama!
