Thank you for the great review. This sounds like an interesting biography. I appreciate that the author used humor throughout and also addressed some difficult topics.

Although this is a memoir, it reads and flows like a story, which I think makes it more accessible to a wider audience.

I love the candour of this review. There seem to a quiet admiration that the reviewer has for the writer which I find admirable.

The issue of race and its many implications is something that has continued to plague the black man and hamper it's progress.

It's good to see books that still address this important subject.

This is an exposing biography indeed. It projects the challenges of blacks during the reconstruction era where ex-slaves were segregated and discriminated against.
Great book, there!

A raw memoir in which the author shares about his life from a young age to later in life. I like how the author did not keep the embarrassing moments from the reader. His mother instilled great values in him regarding racism. This is a heartwarming memoir well worth reading. Thank you for your wonderful review.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. If parents start instilling the right values in their children at a young age, they can help their children avoid being involved in a variety of issues, not just racism.

I find it intriguing how many books are able to expose certain problems/preconceptions that despite being reported many years back, still continue to be relevant to this day (racism and the embarrassment in sharing situations/feelinngs in this case). Really like this type of "intemporal" writing, shows that in the end the human race is pretty much always the same.

I find this memoir to seem quite interesting especially because it includes racism aspects, as that is a topic that needs to be broadly addressed. Moreover, I love how the author was able to talk about embarrassing things he came across in life. Anyways this is a fantastic review and thank you for writing it in a simple yet informational manner.

I love memoirs, especially a well told one. This also touches significant historical events. Therefore, it's one I'd love to read. Thanks for your review!

Memoirs are not really my thing but your review makes me want to read this one. I like that the book shows the negative effects of racism and that the author shares all his experiences with readers.

I am sorry, but I believe I will never be able to understand the appeal of memoir as a genre. What is so interesting in the story of one ordinary life that it is worth to spend limited spare time is beyond me. Sorry, but I prefer to avoid biographies and will skip this one. Anyway, congrats with BOTD!

I love heartwarming, wholesome books. Plus it sounds like he had great parents growing up. His life during those turbulent times could not always have been easy. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of non-fiction books.

This is an interesting review. Frankly, memoirs aren't my thing but it's nice to know that the book isn't completely centered on the author's life.
