I did not expect to be as into this book as I am. Schramm is an exceptional storyteller who can hold the reader. It is obvious he has had an interest in politics from an early age, being involved in everything even in and around school politics and councils.

While the memoir is quite interesting and talks about the author's successful career especially in politics, memoirs aren't my cup of tea so I will be skipping it for now. Thank you for your review!

This is a fascinating non-fiction book, which covers so many of the author's experiences and goes in-depth into subjects he has competence in. It is an interesting journey, which the author first begun in state politics in the last century, followed by transition into environmental regulation and then into private sector. He discusses complex subjects in layman's terms, such as US politics and international law. He finishes his extensive memoir with an inspiring motorcycle trip through the Middle East and shares his cultural experiences.
Great book for readers that have an interest in American politics, environmental issues, and international law and different cultures.

Thank you for your wonderful and informative review. I did enjoy the author's style of writing and in general, I like memoirs, though I don't consider myself a political person, whether one needs to be or not. I did recognize some of the people and names in his book and he is about my parents' ages. I am curious to see what he says about many things and how his life played out. After reading your review, I decided to add this to my list of books to read.

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting memoir of the author's life from his time in private law practice to his career with agencies both on the State and federal level. It might be worth a second look. Well done.

Wonderful review on "Passionate Purpose: A Global Governance Journey" by Jack J. Schramm. The book is filled with amazing details about Schramm's career and major successes at state, federal and international levels. His motorcycle trip through the Middle East was beautiful and he met wonderful people on his travels. I love how he was able to find places to sleep and get his motorcycle fixed numerous times by helpful and kind people along the way free of charge. I'm not one to usually read political books but Jack Schramm wrote in a way that drew me into his story and helped me to understand parts of government that I don't normally understand to an easy read. Congratulations to the author for BOTD.

This is a comprehensive memoir about Schramm's purposeful life and career in the public service of the US. From the book, one could tell Schramm's is a high flier whose experience cuts across several areas of the US public service. It must also be noted that he had an appreciation for other cultures and systems, as it is shown by his exploration of them. Overall, this makes for an interesting read and untangled some hard to grasp concepts in the US public service, like the Electoral College votes vs Popular votes in the US electoral system.

At first, I thought this memoir may only have an audience interested in US politics, but you mention that people with an interest in international law and politics would like this, so I'm going to give it a read based on that. Thank you.
