“Pecked to Death by Ducks” by Rochelle Brandon, MD is an excellent guide readers can use to smooth out the ups and downs in their lives and eliminate worries that should not matter so they can live a very happy life. The book introduces the Eisenhower Matrix, a scientifically proven process for effectively prioritizing tasks. Brandon also explains how the internet has affected our psyche with distractions that batter our thought processes on a daily basis. The book is short but packed with very helpful information from Brandon’s own experiences. The exercises and conclusions at the end of each chapter are a wonderful addition to the guide and help readers better understand the content they just read. The title “Pecked to Death by Ducks” is a great reference to ducks in a pond swimming in circles in a hemmed-in pond and never getting anywhere. People can find themselves in a similar environment if they do not plan and prioritize their tasks for success.

This book feels like it was directed precisely at me. As someone simultaneously on the go and prone to doom scrolling between the chaos of daily life, the bite-sized (pun intended), actionable changes prime potential readers to shift to better habits. Stressing facets of the book like concise length and simply put wisdom also makes my likelihood to read that much more.
