Thank you for that adroitly put review. What a controversial and complicated subject the author has chosen to write about. Pain is experienced by most people and a lot turn to Him for guidance. This book explains why it might not be as simple as that, amongst other things.

It is the time of the year when we commemorate the Lenten Season, where Jesus allowed Himself to experience hardships and pain in order to save mankind from the sins we committed. God has given us free will. Most of the time we choose to take the easy path because we do not want to experience pain and suffering. Yet, Jesus showed us that through accepting that we are sinners and as we atone our sins, we can be cleansed and purified. Despite the bad things that happens to mankind, with our faith in Him, we can be saved.

The author takes a bold approach by blending religious, philosophical, and scientific perspectives to explore the nature of suffering and the importance of love. I appreciate how the book challenges typical explanations and goes into deep questions about responsibility and sacrifice, making it a thought-provoking read for those seeking a deeper understanding of faith and human choice.

The review and authors' note suggest the book delves into the reasoning and explanation of why God has allowed evil and the death and suffering of innocents here on earth. Using the Catholic beliefs as a base for such reasoning. I think that everyone questions His actions at some point in their faith. This book seems like a good read for any who wishes to find answers to those questions.

As a Christian, I find that the author takes a brave decision of asking one question, "Why does evil exist if there is a God that is all loving and good?". I know that this is one question that many believers and non-believers of God have asked themselves so I am intrigued as to what this book seeks to do which may offend many narrow minded Christians and atheists as well. Kudos to the author for doing the research enough to write about one of the most controversial questions in religion history.

"The Advent of Time" by Indignus Servus is a thought-provoking exploration of the age-old theological dilemma: if God is all-powerful and all-loving, why does evil and suffering exist in the world? The author delves into this profound question through the lens of Christian orthodoxy, offering readers a comprehensive analysis that intertwines theological discourse with logical reasoning.

One of the book's standout features is its accessible writing style. Despite tackling complex theological concepts, Servus presents his arguments in a manner that is both engaging and understandable to a broad audience. The avoidance of technical jargon and the clear articulation of fundamental assumptions make this work approachable, even for those without a deep religious background. As noted in a review by AkashTyagi, "Despite the complexity of the issue, Indignus Servus delivers the points in an understandable manner for a wide audience."

The book is structured into two main parts: "Redefining an Ancient Problem" and "Creation, Fall, and Timeless Being." This organization allows readers to follow the progression of ideas systematically. Servus examines the prerequisites of love—such as faith, free will, and selflessness—and discusses how these elements may necessitate the existence of evil and suffering to foster a timeless, loving relationship with God. Cynthia Pence highlights this aspect, stating that the book "explains the timeless concepts of human existence."

The author's engagement with biblical texts, particularly teachings attributed to Jesus Christ, enriches the theological discourse and underscores the interconnectedness of theological concepts with religious traditions. This approach encourages readers to contemplate theological inquiries within a scriptural context. Nwansimdi Mercy Someze points out that the book "explores the tension between the attributes of God and the existence of suffering, as articulated by Epicurus and subsequent thinkers."

In terms of presentation, the book is well-edited, with reviewers noting minimal to no grammatical errors. The concise chapters and logical flow contribute to a seamless reading experience. However, some readers may find the rational approach to the problem of evil lacking in addressing the emotional and pastoral needs of those who are suffering. Additionally, while the book provides a fresh perspective on the problem of evil, it may not fully satisfy readers seeking traditional theological explanations.

In conclusion, "The Advent of Time" offers a compelling and accessible examination of the problem of evil from a Christian perspective. Its logical reasoning and clear writing make it a valuable read for those interested in theology, philosophy, or anyone grappling with questions about suffering and divine love. As AkashTyagi aptly summarizes, "'The Advent of Time' by Indignus Servus is an ambitious and thought-provoking essay that addresses the eternal theological problem of evil."

Based on your review, I am eager to read the book, but not because I am looking for answers. I am eager to continue the academic discussion by further reasoning on the topic of God's love in relation to the suffering of the world we see around us. However, I plan to use only the Bible as my reference in refuting some of the author's points. It should be fun.

In my experience, it's true that many people, even religious leaders, battle with the concept of evil and why God allows it. Many atheists name this as their reason for rejecting the existence of God. It will be interesting to read the authors explanation. Thank you for your informative review.

The question of why suffering exists, along with many other fundamental questions, continues to plague the minds of many, and simple answers often do not suffice. It would be wonderful to see how the author incorporates the writings of the Apostle Paul in this book. It is already on my to-read shelf.
Thanks for the informative review, @Huini Hellen.

Before reading this book, I must admit that I always found religious explanations for suffering to be quite generic, ignoring the logical and physical elements such as pain, emotional turmoil and even trauma. However, Indignus’ discussion on why sacrifice is a necessary foundation for love has dispelled my initial doubts. I found it bold for the author to engage with scientific explanations of concepts like determinism, which vindicates man’s responsibility for moral choices. This book’s engagement with other literature was what I loved the most about it.

The author has provided in-text references for his arguments, drawing from various philosophical, scientific and even religious texts, especially the Bible. This authenticates his arguments and gives other authors a sense of engagement with their works. For instance, I’m curious about Dr. Robert Sapolsky’s response to Indignus’ critique of his work, Determined: A Science of Life Without Free Will.
