I can't pretend to know exactly what Janice went through in her life in the story. But I can really tell it has been a long and bumpy ride, for any body in her shoes to fight all this forces to be successful.

An autobiography of Janice S. Ellis in her book "From Liberty to Magnolia: In Search of the American Dream" tells us about her growing up as a black child up to her becoming a newspaper political columnist and also a successful business manager. The story appears to be quite inspiring.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

This is a story of determination and resilience. I'm glad the author decided to put her life experiences and struggles in writing; this will in no small measures help those who are currently passing through similar phase in life. Thank you for the review!

I admire the strength and resilience of Janice. Despite the gender and racial discrimination, she still persevere and went after her dream. I will recommend this book to young ladies to help them see way where it seems not. Well edited book and great review!

Non fiction books are not my cup of tea but I've read the review and the life of Janice was really difficult, perhaps even more difficult than the life of others: first of all because she was a woman who wanted to gain something in her life and secondly because she was black. The book seems very interesting and informative. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

A readable, enjoyable review about a book which deals with a lot of controversial topics. Being a black woman who grew up in the South of America makes for a very interesting story. Coming from South Africa I find it fascinating to read about racsim in the US. This book certainly deals woth all of the issues, from woman's rights to those of non-whites. Although we had apartheid in South Africa, we never murdered people as appears to have been the case here. Thanks for a comprehensive review.

I see the story inspires compassion since suffering can't be a joke; is a gateway to develop or strenghten empathy and also a nutricious document full of historical moments in the southern USA that, at the same time, combines the author's growing experience, who doesn't skimp when it comes to narrating horrid or peaceful events. The narrative is far from being barroque, which makes it friendly and inclusive, it is fluent and capable to release from the text the scent of each flower described; stimulates the reader to keep going with the book. Honestly, i would love to read more dialogues, but the lack of them is not a big deal. I only read the free sample, but i would love to finish the book :techie-reference:

Good review. I find it interesting to hear the stories of those from the south and their struggles. I think it’s important to never forget our history about racism and the rights of people. This is one I’ll add to my list.

Yes, we read a lot of stories. Sime of them fiction and some no-fiction. The lessons we learn from them can be the same however, there is a feeling...., a different vantage point when you know that the narrator has walked the talk. Its something more than inspiration. I don't know tbe word for it. Nice review.

It is sad to hear how black people were treated in the past. I glad things hace changed now. Wonderful book , it can be used as a historical reference to racism and societal issues.

An autobiography in which the author shows us her life in the face of racism and sexism until she achieves her goals to become a successful business manager and a political journalist. With many sad and cruel stories, it seems to be an inspiring book.

Racism is yet to be conqured. It's one crucial theme that should be written on, talked about and be discussed in detail in every corner of this world. I am glad it is featured in the authors work. Thank you for your awesomely detailed review.

Have read some Ellie's book but this one is so interesting, the racism from the Americans, the challenges she encounter teach me that for every dark time there's always a bright day ahead.
