I don't like autobiographies, mainly because I never had much interest to delve in personal lives of strangers. Sorry, but I will skip this book.

I think it's cool to read about the life of the author, and I like that there are a lot of pictures in it despite it being so short. Great review.

Sounds like an interesting memoir showing the importance of family and how it was like growing up at a particular time. I'll love to read this. Nice review.

I have added today's BOTD to my WTR list. It sounds absolutely delightful. I love the story about the chickens - hahahaaa!! At 41 yrs old, I have been lucky enough to live through many of our world's changes and transformations, but the author's journey has been quite the experience! Thank you so much for the recommendation and the wonderful review! :-)

The book seemed to be full of life learnings, coming from someone who lead a very productive life beginning from her happy childhood up to her retirement days. Congrats!

Life back then is unarguably the best. Everyone has his or her own story to tell. Now, it's more of technology. Thank you for the review. You did a great job.

Dibs and Dabs a life from Gertude Coulter. It was a autobiography of a member of the Great Generation. Ir marked a simple time on a farm in Arkansas. A time of simple pleasures like fresh fried chicken and family reunions. Of lessons learned from Grandparents and Parents alike.

In just a few short pages, I felt as though I could see the place in time Gertrude was describing, which is quite an impressive feat! I honestly would love to read the rest of this simple, but eloquent story to learn more about Gertrude and her family, and I really want fried chicken for dinner now!

Reflecting upon a time when we were not as stuck in our technology, this author brings to mind the days of yesteryear when people worked hard in a much different way than those of us do these days. While we spend a lot of our time “busy” with our activities, in the days gone by there was much work to be done with each task. Despite the jobs that needed to be completed, in the simplicity of the tasks, there is nostalgia. Perhaps it is from the community coming together to accomplish each task or the happiness in the accomplishment itself. This author has set down to paper those sentiments that are quickly fading as the older population ages.

This is an excellent review of a very interesting looking book. The theme seems to be all shades of happy and more. I always felt the 1940s was a bleak period based on WWII (1939 to 1945) but it seems Getrude Coulter didn't let that detract from her happy memories. This should be a great read! Congrats to the author on #BOTD

At first glance, I didn' think that this book would be one I'd be interested in. While I can relate to being a single mom and being raised by one I didn't think this book would be a good fit. After reading your review I can easily say that I've changed my mind. LOL! This book sounds like it will be fun to read and something enjoyable to go through as the author relates so much of her childhood back in the 1940s. It sounds like she has led an interesting life. Thanks for the fun review!

I think that it is very interesting to hear stories of the older generations. As far as they way they grew up. What they were and were not able to do. Or even the little things that we take for granted such as air conditioners my grandmother was born within this decade and the stories that she tells I'm not sure if I even have the strength my less the know how to survive life within that era. Yet it seems as the more the world evolves the more there is to be afraid of for yourself as well as your children etc. I am interested to read Gertrude's story.

I like your review and I am interested in reading this because of how the author wrote it. I am impressed that she took eighty years of her life and put it into only sixty-two pages. Most fiction books are longer than that even when it is a simple plot. I love the black and white photographs to bring authenticity to her writing. The cover photo of her makes me think of her as a grandmother and someone who would love to get to know.

I'm impressed that Gertrude was able to narrate over 80 years of her life in less than 70 pages. Most of the other biographies and memoirs I've read have been much longer. I prefer reading stories that have action and suspense so I might skip this one, but I'm glad to know that Gertrude lived a happy life!
