What an interesting life the author has had. I like the dark humor, too. Thanks for the recommendation.

The quote in the book, ' bad things happen to bad people' and the mention of the eleventh commandment by the author makes the book intriguing . It makes me wonder what the eleventh commandment is.The fact that the author was a medical doctor and also witnessed the events from the Second World War makes him a person with a colorful history.Mention of well known figures in history like Elizabeth Taylor and Mother Teresa makes the story believable and fascinating to read.Would definitely want to read it.Thank you.

I understand your point about the author not mentioning what those three little words were. I am glad that you liked the book overall though. Thank you for your insightful review. Congrats to the author on the 4/4 rating.

It sounds like this book was a great match for you. I like how he is right up front about how this is an embellished non-fiction. I really don't find anything about the subject matter appealing to me, however, so I think I will skip this one.

You are right @Jgideon about the humor. I read only the first two chapters from Amazon’s sample and they are already punctuated by hilarious anecdotes! And the reader is brutally introduced to the gory. Thanks for a great review.

When I read the prologue I was hoping the rest of the book would be as funny as it was. I'm glad to see my hopes are confirmed. Good job!

I love humor so a book that uses humor will have a magnetic force that draws me to it. The review gives a candid synopsis of the book without giving away the plot line. I look forward to reading this narrative.

Very intriguing! I wonder what that eleventh commandment is. The author seems to have made this through his life's experiences. Nicely reviewed.

This sounds like it would be a great book for a particular audience, but I don't believe it would be something I would enjoy reading. Great review, though!

A book written by an enlightened professional as Dr David sounds pretty educative to me. He's 87 years, so I guess this is like an open journal that will lead his readers into some of his past experiences including the difficult, the traumatising and the happy ones. I think it's an excellent read. Thanks for this beautiful review.

I admire books with some kind of fabrication to challenge the reader's trust in the author. It's like a game deciphering the message or story---which I find very satisfying. However, I don't think book would be enjoyable for me. Great review. :tiphat:

What an intriguing review. It definitely makes me want to find out how Elizabeth Taylor reacts when the physician is a nervous wreak and what type of poetry was written. The review talks about the book without turning into a spoiler. Makes me want to read the book just to know the 11th commandment.

This book reminded me of something I would like to do, look back on my life and write it all down. Maybe I will, when like the author, I’m in my seventies. Although I’m not sure if I’d have so many interesting things to write about, especially as I only read up until he was 7. I think for anyone who knows the author or was brought up in a similar time and environment, they would really enjoy this book, talking of doodlebugs, unions, Amish life will bring back many enjoyable memories for some. I do love the title and the connection to it in the book, as a Catholic I do agree, it should be the 11th Commandment.

The idea that someone can make something out of life no matter your background is satisfying. The element of humour spread throughout the book creates a relief for the not so pleasant scenes. Altogether a good read.

Really captivating, it will be a fun challenge figuring out what is real and what isn’t. I also would like to know what the commandment is about so I am definitely adding to shelf. Great review.
