This sounds like a sweet book. I honestly find the "normal" lives of people interesting. There's something about seeing things from another perspective in the day-to-day that influences how we see our own lives. It makes the world seem a little smaller and a little better I think.

A collection of essays about the author's life seems to be interesting.

Thank you for the great review.

Thanks for the interesting review. While this book does sound like it has some really good moments to it, I'm not that keen on essay format so I think that I will pass on reading this book.

Great review. A collection of essays about the author's life seems like an interesting read. I also like some of the themes used like family devotion and faith. Congratulations to the author
We will have our ups and downs, regardless of who we are. When we fall, we peel ourselves off the asphalt and get back up. If we need to cry, then we cry. And when we’re ready, we get back up and move forward again.

Great review! You wrote very interesting information that makes me want to read the book! I'm a movie buff and music is my remedy so mentioning that he made references to these makes me excited to read his work. I also love Wonder Years because watching it is one of the happy moments in my childhood. I'm looking forward to reading this book and I hope it makes me laugh. I need it. I sure hope I don't cry or at least don't cry much in reading it. Thanks for this wonderful review!

I love the references to the film The Graduate and the song Mrs. Robinson. I couldn't help but think about that movie and hum the lyrics to the song. I also like that the author included photographs to bring the author into the right mindset of truly experiencing what it was like to grow up during that time period. I am always a fan of autobiography and especially ones that talk about a sense of community.

This one seems like a beautiful book about 19th century family life. I will pass on this one since it is not my type of book. Congratulations on being BOTD

Your mention that it is a good read for older generations but can be enjoyed by younger readers is true in my household. My kids love hearing tales from the grandparents and older uncles and aunts rather than the reality TV stuff. Nice review!

I have this book in my Kindle library and will have to get around to taking a crack at it. It sounds like a pleasant read. The author reminds me, in a roundabout way, of one of the residents in the retirement community where I worked for almost eleven years. Thank you for your enlightening review.

It seems as explained that this is a book of feel good reminiscing/stories. Unfortunately, despite the very capable review, I will have to pass for now. However there is the off chance I might remember this book during any holiday stretch (the review is not only capable but also compelling). Nonetheless, congrats to the author on #BOTD

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting collection of stories and memories about the author's life growing up in an Italian-American family in the 1950s and 1960s. It might be worth a second look. Well done.

Memoirs, even in the form of short stories, aren't really my cup of tea. For those interested in the 1950s, especially the Italian-American experience, the book sounds perfect. Great review, as always!

It is amazing how much our parents can influence our lives. The author’s mother talked to his baseball coach to give him a chance to play when he was eight years old, and he went on to play baseball until the Vietnam War. It was a hard lesson to learn about buying a “lemon” red convertible. He should’ve listened to his dad! Good review!

I like how the storyline was crafted. Its all about Sacchetti's experiences growing up in an Italian-American family during the 50s-60s and recent decades of his life. Great review
