The book sounds like a mixture of so many things and I'm not sure how I feel about reading it. I believe the story brings Sam into a discovering himself. Congratulations on being the Book of the Day.

I was raised by a loving mother and a disciplinarian father, and I can kind of relate them to Ismael and Hank's parents. I love adventure stories, and it will be interesting to follow Sam's life in this book. Congratulations on being BOTD!

Book Review: This the Life and Adventures of Pineapple Sam

‘The Life & Adventures of Pineapple Sam’ Author: Pineapple Sam This can be described as one of the most unique and detailed lifestyles that pitches a unique hero in a world full of surprises, Ismael also known as Pineapple Sam. An engaging and at some point, philosophical life story of Sam takes the center stage as the novel paints Hawaii’s scenery where the boy, a troublemaker bullied by his father at home grows up into a matured Marine corps veteran.

Another factor that can be appreciated in the book is the broad range of topics, ranging from humorous childhood pranks to the grimness of the warfare stories. Overall, a vivid description of Sam’s intense spear-fishing trip on Kauai interrupted by the specter of the girl is unique and, once again, funny and scary simultaneously. This among other adventures depicts Sam as someone who is hungry for adventure in life and regardless of the consequences he will always find ways and means to have an adventure.More over he always had the desire to have life more abundant despite the strict father who always threatens to beat him up.

The plot becomes tragic sharing Sam’s days in the U. S. Marine Corps and the Vietnam war. This deludes into a brief understanding of his role of a tunnel rat and the effects the position has on him which makes for a very realistic look into the brutality of war. The book does not bother to keep the stakeholders away from the adverse effects of PTSD on the veterans and presents a poignant reminder of the absence of adequate psychological care for soldiers.

The inclusion of Pidgin English brings reality and spice into the dialogues, but it is fitting to acclimate oneself to the phrases for a while. Filled with graphical presentations within the body of text, the believability of the work is increased, and the reader is provided with added motivation to continue on.

Altogether, “The Life and Adventures of Pineapple Sam” is thrilling reading and tells a story that encompasses many aspects of life and includes stints at the very worst of youthful pranks to war. By choosing enthusiastic and humoristic tone together with impressing number of vivid examples the author makes the book as interesting as informative. Vividly recommended to the readers who seek an exotic yet philosophic reader’s trip.

"The Life and Adventures of Pineapple Sam" by Pineapple Sam tells the story of Ismael, nicknamed Pineapple Sam, who grows up in Hawaii with his loving mother and disciplinarian father. Sam and his brother Hank frequently get into mischief, leading to conflicts with their father. Sam and his friends—Randy, Wilson, and Mando—dream of touring the United States. It sounds like the author had a colourful childhood. I wonder what the friends actually saw that night in Kauai. It's a bit sad that the author's somewhat carefree childhood was marred by his experiences in the Vietnam war.

Why would someone call a boy "Pineapple"? A very strange and a bit insulting nickname, in my opinion, but anyway, I won't find the answer, because I will have to skip this book. No offense meant, it is nothing personal, the memoirs are simply not my cup of tea. Still, congratulations with BOTD!

It is fascinating to see and experience how other people live. It might inspire you to do what you haven't thought of:
'"The Life and Adventures of Pineapple Sam" by Pineapple Sam is embellished by an array of adventures of Sam’s life. He finds studying boring and is always on the move to make life captivating. Pineapple Sam or Ismael, was raised in Hawaii by a loving mother and a drunkard disciplinarian father. Ismael, along with his brother, Hank, are well acquainted with fun and mischief. Randy, Wilson, and Mando are some of his best friends with a sensational desire to tour the United States and experience the best that the world can offer. I was entertained and acquainted with the reality faced by militiamen in the U.S. and how the government manipulated figures to create a deceptive impression to the public. My favorite aspect of this book was its ability to tackle a spectrum of issues. Sam’s experience at the U.S. Marine Corps was fascinating.'

I am intrigued by the title as it appears like a child's book. By further reading it then features serious adult topics like alcoholism and war. I would like to find out more about it. Thanks for the review.
