Awe it sounds so heartwarming. The author is correct many couple now just give up and walk away without putting the work in. My parents were married nearly 50 years before my mom passed and my dad lived another 20. The couples today don’t have the years invested.

Congratulations for the #BOTD, a good read for those of conservative Christian faith. As my faith and ideals are different, it's always good to hear a different viewpoint regarding what and who constitutes in a marriage. This could apply to many different types of marriages. This novel doesn't apply to all, only those with like ideas.

I favour perspectives on marriage that focus on God as an intricate part of the union. I note your recommended readers and that you believe the book can be helpful, although repetitive. I hope it will reach a broad audience. I am already sold. Thank you for the insights.

A christian-like book on marriage will definitely be a good read and practicality is very good in marital discussions because everyone seems to be keeping their marriage issues on the down low

“My Spouse, My Friend” by Ingiete Oyama is a non-fiction story based on Oyama’s views on marriage as an institution and relationship. The book reviews the challenges couples experience in marriage. She lays the path to an ideal marriage. Couples neglect to consider the demands of marriage, and the impact finances have on their relationship. Oyama truly believes that God is the solution to many marital issues. She also has strong beliefs about divorce when it does not involve infidelity. I look forward to reading this book because I know that marriage is a union that one has to constantly work at and not take one’s partner for granted. She also provides ways to fix the problems in many marriages. The official reviewer gave the book a rating of 3 out of 4 stars because of the repetitions in several chapters. The book will really benefit couples that are engaged since it will show them insights into the journey of marriage.

I wanted to read this book, but the sample I read appeared to be heavily geared towards Christians, with numerous bible passages referenced even on the first page. You didn't mention in your review if it's more directed to Christians, so I'm at a loss whether to read it or not.
