Re: Official Review: Discover the Incredible Health Benefits
No, that's a compliment, bookowlie! I can't talk with strangers at all.
We studied that in psychology--when you go through the line, you engage in a "script."
"Will that be all for you?"
"Did you find everything all right?"
Etc.
When I try to engage in scripts, I cannot waver into "conversation" territory, beyond, "How are you." "Fine, how are you?" I clench up and I just can't converse.
I swear, there's an employee at the local CVS who won't give up on me. "Weather's cold tonight, isn't it?" "Ah, we have an ice cream fan." "Oh, feminine protection. Good choice." And then he mocks me for steadfastly remaining so silent.
I don't know why, but it's a major difficulty for me--with everyone, not just that guy. Oh, I envy you sociable types, BookOwlie and PashaRu!

I hope you're joking, that a dude would actually say this to you.zeldas_lullaby wrote: "Oh, feminine protection. Good choice." And then he mocks me for steadfastly remaining so silent.
Well, it's not always comfortable for me to start a conversation with someone I don't know. But if the other person starts it, I'm okay continuing. I guess I'm shy enough to be adorable and sweet, but conversant enough to be charming and engaging.zeldas_lullaby wrote:I don't know why, but it's a major difficulty for me--with everyone, not just that guy. Haha, I couldn't really write that with a straight face.

Maybe that's one reason why "Al Gore" (ha ha ha) invented the internet, so that shy people could chat with other people without feeling uncomfertable.zeldas_lullaby wrote:Well, Graberobber, I think I can answer that.

(You're right! It is hard to keep a straight face!)

I can tell the CVS guy's behavior is out of line. He is just so weird. And I do hate being mocked for my silence! Maybe I will start texting next time.
Oh my, did Al Gore claim credit for inventing the Internet? I didn't know that! (Seriously!!) But yes, that is a great feature of the Internet!!!

I always just grab the less expensive spices. Does the author address this, PashaRu?

Oh, and don't buy spices from guys standing on street corners in the hood. They're almost certainly not pure.

What is grief, if not love persevering?
Grief is just love with no place to go.
