So with Amazon no longer having the book, is there somewhere else we can read it? I am very interested in the book since reading the threads on here and the original posts. I have some knowledge in the are as I have certification in domestic violence and sexual assault crisis intervention. Also, I am a CJ major so I am very intrigued...

I downloaded this book from Amazon and left a review there. I don't know why people still make up their minds about things before even finding out about it. We need to read a book before passing judgement and leaving bad reviews. That's one thing that drives me crazy about the review process on Amazon.

Hi Scott, thanks for sharing your book with me; I did read it, though I have a different opinion towards it. In overall I understand your efforts of trying to turn this world a better place for all of us, nontheless, to me there are certain things in life that cannot be overlooked and no doubt raping is one of them. For one side I think there's a victim that shouldn't be ignored and for the other side there's an abuser that needs to be educated/civilized. I don't think it is healthy or convenient to anyone to simply let the abuser do whatever they want with the premise of not hurting his/her feelings; what about the victim's feelings? Still, I respect your point of view. My question is then, beyond loving the abuser what is there for the victim? What if the victim was you or someone really close to you? Would you stil forgive, forget and do nothing about it? I would've liked you to have stated your thoughts on this matter in your booklet.

Thanks again Scott.

I tried to leave my review on Amazon, but it seems the book is no longer available.

Its sad how people are, literally, judging a book by its cover! To post hateful reviews without honest knowledge of the books shows the immaturity of so many.

To be honest I wasn't really sure how to feel about it. I understood the point you were trying to get across. Personally I think that some people that act like wild rabid beasts should be treated as such. It's not really about hatred for me. It's about the lives they've ruined and lack of contribution to society that we have to deal with.

It's sad that people will jump to conclusions and be quick to judge before they actually take some time to understand. It may not be for everyone- and that's okay. But people shouldn't be giving it low ratings without actually reading and trying to understand the book.

I"m new to the site and haven't read the book. However it does bring up some interesting points of discussion about censorship. Does freedom of expression have it's limits? Our laws say that it does. But I think we ought to be most especially careful in censoring, banning or suppressing what we don't like. What is said or written may offend, it may cross subjective boundaries of what's ok and what's not. But as philosopher Noam Chomsky said "If we don't believe in freedom of expression for those we despise, we don't believe in it at all."

Free speech is complicated, it's rarely black and white, and rarely has a single component. There is always the possibility of harm and offense that free speech can cause. But it should always be protected. I don't agree with Amazon's suppression of the book.

According to John Stuart Mill, free speech fosters authenticity, genius, creativity, individuality and human flourishing. He tells us that if we ban speech the silenced opinion may be true, or contain a portion of the truth, and that unchallenged opinions become mere prejudices and dead dogmas that are inherited rather than adopted.

I am also a survivor of rape, and this whole Brock Turner debacle brought up a lot of strong emotions. However, despite my initial misgivings about Scott's book (and my own personal issues with Christianity), I ended up getting a lot out of this short booklet.

One thing which struck me about all of the social media attention this got is how vilified Turner was - rightfully so, the man is a rapist. But this vilification and 'othering' (i.e. some people are just rapists) leaves no room for people (especially men) to question their OWN part in rape culture. I personally know way too many men who have gotten away with this kind of behaviour, and so many women who have been victims of rape while intoxicated but never pursued justice because they blamed themselves and did not fit the 'alleyway rape' narrative. So you can imagine how incensed I was when I saw the 'outrage' of men whom I know carry the same entitlement as Brock Turner... This terrible incident opened a lot of dialogue regarding victim blaming, but there is still a whole lot more discussion regarding a culture of male entitlement that needs to be had.

That said, I do agree with DarthMandy that reading this book may not be a good idea for some rape survivors. I made the mistake of reading it at work, and spent half an hour afterwards sobbing in the bathroom.

Being a survivor of rape myself, when I initially downloaded the book, I did expect a lot more discussion on the actual Brock Turner case itself. I was surprised to find it hardly had anything to do with Brock. It has a very broad message that applies to more than Brock. I am in agreement with others that rape survivors may pick this up, and like myself, have a hard time digesting the message. We don't want to see rapists being labeled as anything other than a rapist. It's a sensitive topic. Overall, I didn't think the booklet was bad, but I guess being a survivor myself I had a hard time with it. Maybe because a lot of people still aren't open to the opinion of others and are too set in their ways. I do welcome reads like this, and that's why I still read it despite it being about a topic I struggle with. Just trying to be honest here!
