Thank you for your review. This sounds like a good book for those that want a closer relationship with Jesus. I would definitely give this as a present for my Catholic or Christian friends and family.

Another BOTD for Christian readers seeking spiritual enlightenment. It has a broad audience and will do well. It's not a book for me though.

“Trekking” by Gene Maynard is a story that recounts Gene Maynard’s spiritual journey and shares his connection with God during his travels. He and his wife completed a 500-mile trek on the El Camino de Santiago pilgrimage while focusing on his path to a new life. Maynard received a Doctorate in Theology and wrote his Doctoral dissertation on 17th century religion, and he used the personal experiences he learned from other inspiring people through reading and listening and this led him to discover his own spiritual path. He became the lead pastor of one of the largest churches in Canada, had the Dali Lama speak to 70,000 people in a local arena and he led a graduate school in Theology. He then became the pastor of a church in California and has been there for the past 18 years. Readers can follow his path that is split into five core sections that start with finding the right path and end with reintegrating one’s learnings into the community. I really enjoy books that can help me build a closer relationship with God, so this is a must read for me. Maynard transformed his ways by living a simple life and a life of sacrifice for Christians. I believe that we cannot take our riches with us when we die, so Maynard’s approach is definitely worth investigating. Living a good Christian life on Earth and developing a great relationship with Jesus will prepare me for the afterlife in Heaven. I think this will be a great read for Christians and non-Christians that have an open mind about Jesus and the sacrifices He made while on Earth.

Having a spiritual life is a consistent journey with God with the challenges that come with it. This is what Gene Maynard's book "Trekking" a Guidebook for Spiritual Transformation is all about. A desired read for me.

Even though "Trekking" is not a book of genre which I love to read, it seems to provide a life lessons and relationship with God. To get spiritual enlightenment, some needs guidance to the right path. This book will serve as one of the such books to find a perfect path. Congratulations on the BOTD! Great review.

Definitely not my cup of tea, because I have no interest in the subject the book explores. Spirituality and religion, in my opinion, essentially are the moral compass, but there is too much talking and less actually doing. Otherwise, we would have lived in a much better world full of decent people.

The reviewer's balanced perspective is commendable, acknowledging both the strengths and potential weaknesses of the work. Praising the author's skill in emphasizing the importance of sacrifice, forging an intimate relationship with God, and embracing simplicity as a spiritual virtue demonstrates keen insight into the book's merits. At the same time, the reviewer's honest assessment of the occasional repetitiveness and off-topic tangents shows a willingness to provide constructive criticism.

A deeper understanding of God and walking closely with Him is a noble cause and pursuit for a believer. I like the emphasis on forgiveness and contentment, as contentment is likely to one being happy in life as well and lead a life of gratitude. I am happy that the author included an aspect of reintegrating into the community too.
Many, many thanks for the amazing review. :tiphat: :tiphat: :tiphat:
