The author gave a compelling account of what a rape victim experience. In her recollection of her past events it showed how her like friends and family tried to protect her. However, many times because of our own feelings of desires our common sense does not kick in until after the fact. I would like to add this book to my shelf.

I am a survivor. I was immediately interested in this book because of the subject matter. I agree with the reviewer that I had never seen a book about how rape affects friends and family of the victim. This has been an eye opening take on such a powerful issue in our culture. I also agree with the reviewer that the last chapter should have been an afterward section or something, but it does feel thrown in at the last minute. I do feel that this strangely placed chapter has some really good insights about how even though you are stronger, the random things that can pop up and bring it right back to the surface are there and will never go away.

This sounds like a very inspiring book. It isn’t one that I would choose to read but it does sound like a good read.

I enjoyed your review of Voices of Hope by Kristine Irwin. As a rape survivor, this book piqued my interest since it stated how the author interviewed friends amd family and the impact on their lives. I'm looking forward to reading about her path to surviving and becoming an advocate.

I'm also interested in reading this book because I'm a Public Health major planning to specialize in Community and Behavioral Health--focusing on mental health and behaviors. This is going on my bookshelf right now.

I appreciate the strength and bravery of the author for coming out of the devastating situation and helping other rape victims. The point of view of the author and her friends and family gives a comprehensive view of how rape affects a person and those surrounding her.

Thanks for the excellent review. This non-fiction novel is an eye-opener about rape. The story includes the author's own experiences as a rape victim. This book will help readers who are a rape victim or a relative of the rape victim. A jarring chapter placed in the end is the sad part. Congrats to the author on BOTD!

Good for this woman to speak her truth! If reading this helps even one victim, then it’ll have done its job, I’d say. Thanks for the review!

As someone who suffers from a sexual assault fueled PTSD this book could be a good one for me. I have not really been reading non-fiction books lately, but I may have to make an exception for this one!

I believe the author is very brave in writing and sharing how she overcomed one of the worst thing that can happen to a woman, that is rape. This book is very inspiring and people who have experienced the same turbulence in their life will greatly relate to this book.

Thank you for the review. I hope the author has found some peace and closure when writing about such a horrifying experience. Although it is not my type of reading, it goes without saying that many people will surely find strength and courage in the words of this book, something that will help them to cope with their own experience.

It's inspiring that the author moved on to make her life better, despite what happened to her. And it's even more Inspiring that she accepted what happened to her and founded an organisation to help those affected in
a similar way. It's admirable that she wrote a book about the perspectives of not only herself but also her loved ones. It's difficult to not think of oneself as the only victim. This shows the author is magnanimous and kind. The horrendous crime is never justifiable, and one will keep asking why. But they'll never get an answer and that is worrisome. May this inspiring book provide solace to many who have been affected by this crime

I am very interested to read this book. I can’t wait to see how including the multiple viewpoints affects the overall story. I look up to her ability to write about this experience & use it as a way to inform people & heal.

I appreciate a review that guides readers to not only a brief synopsis of the book and what they personally appreciated or didn't but also a guideline to the fact that this is a rather taboo novel that lends to such a sensitive topic and most people may shy away from it but this review has made me comfortable enough to want to read it without the chance of encountering anything upsetting as honestly I do not think I may be able to read that part at all.
