This sounds like a great book. I’m glad it is well researched. I’ve always wondered about the seemingly inequality between men and women in the Bible. I’m curious enough to read this book about it.

This is absolutely a must-read for anyone interested or struggling with resolving the perceived conflict between feminism and the church.

I really appreciate that the author has approached this topic as a research question, laying aside her own previously-held opinions to see what the Bible actually says. I look forward to reading her findings and learning a bit more about the experiences of women in the church.

An interesting perspective on the bible that has no sort of exclusion or otherwise malice against other people. Thanks for the review.

Bette Boersma is correct! There should be more women in leadership positions in the church! We have seen men make a mess of things and I believe women should have the chance to shine. I believe that some people, especially young women, may avoid becoming involved in the church because they see a male pastor, a male head of the church council, as well as other ministries driven by men. Yes, women cook Wednesday night dinners and solace dinners and bake cookies for VBS. They serve in the Children's Sunday School. Women are capable of so much more. I was drawn to the Methodist Church when I witnessed, for the first time, women ushers and women associate pastors.

A refreshing and unique take on Christian theology. The analysis of the equality of Adam and Eve is a singularly interesting one, which I am now curious to read.

This review is very supportive and states well what to expect in this work. Being a Catholic Christian, I have wondered many times about the history of the role of women during biblical times and pondered upon the many judgements made about women in relation to men. I am curious to know what is discussed and to gain another perspective and insight on the topic of women.

Finally someone who can talk about women and feminism the way it should be talked about. Written conversationally, this book draws you in. Good read!

I will like to recommend "The second eve: understanding Biblical equality book by Bette Boersma as a must read book to all couples and individuals to know our position in God's word. The book introduction presentation was not written based on argument that one gender is superior to another rather by asking the right questions on the role of women in church and home prayerfully. The book had it written by the husband Hank Boersman about the persistence of his wife studying and praying for twelves years to know God's heart towards women. It shows that it doesn't matter how long we have been asking from God, Persistence and asking the right questions is the key open the hidden treasures of heaven.
The author also define his point by defining what a meekness is? She said meekness means to give our all and all to God and hence Holy spirit will now be our teacher and we will not be under the law but under grace and love. She also said we are one before God. Whatever we don't understand we should ask from God. James1:5. Nice one.

I'm not sure how I feel about this one. While I am no expert on the Bible I do recall a Pauline Scripture which states that women must be silent in congregation and ask questions of their husbands at home. And at the time the New Testament was being written men were allowed to have multiple wives, adulteresses were stoned to death and male slaves were worth more than female slaves. Feminism and the Bible is like oil and water.

The Second Eve by Bette Boersma is a Christian feminist theological book. After studying in a Biblical college, the author felt a necessity to write a book that discusses the equality of men and women from the Biblical perspective.
