I like that even though things didn't turn out well for Tom, he determined to take charge of his life. That's motivational and encouraging.

In the third installment of Tom Wick’s memoir, readers will continue to follow on Wick’s inspiring life story from his adventures while serving in the US Navy to the ways he managd to overcome trauma and substance abuse. I really admire how committed this author is in telling his story, as he chose to tell them in three volumes.

This "story of great struggles, resilience, positivism, hope, and triumph" is definitely a great book. I like it that the book involves adventures and travels. I'll definitely check it out. Congrats on the BOTD!

Tom interestingly went further to write a volume 3 of his memoir. And I ask myself, would there be a volume 4? This is beautiful regardless. Congratulations on the third book of the day!

I have seen the review of books 1 and 2. I really admire how the author poured out his life into the book. Also fighting post-traumatic stress disorder with hard drugs could be disastrous. I will love to read this too. Nice review.

Honestly this review is well written and I’m glad I read it
I don’t think the cover art of this book is very attractive and then the rating isn’t very encouraging either

I am glad that the reviewer made sure to specify that this book still needs editorial help; I thought that this would have improved given the comments from the other books. The bravery he has in telling his story is amazing and I commend him for that, as this couldn't have been easy. Congrats to him on BOTD and thanks for the review. :)

I at once was drawn to this memoir based on the initiation ritual of the pollywogs. I'm just wondering about the disgusting side of these rituals. Thanks for the wonderful review.

When Life Doesn’t Turn Out the Way We Hoped It Would: Volume 3 was authored by Tom Wick. It is the third book in the series and is approximately 364 pages long. The forthcoming memoir starts with the initiation of the new sailors, pollywogs, into hardened seamen, shellbacks, during the Shellback Initiation Ceremony aboard the USS Gridley. The author provided a very precise description of the origin and importance of the sacred ceremony, and thus I understood its significance. The traditional ritual was replete with amusing activities. Some were disgusting, of course, but the result was worth everything. The extended voyage at sea continued to various islands after the ceremony, which was performed upon crossing the equator.

This is not only a story of sea voyages from one island to another but also fascinating adventures. It is a story of great struggles, resilience, positivism, hope, and triumph. It is the account of a person who encountered numerous challenges, was haunted by traumatic memories, and had to find a way to live fully. The author poured his life experiences into the book. His candor cannot be estimated. He honestly narrates how he injected hard drugs to cope with post-traumatic stress disorder. These hardships and determination to emerge victoriously made his set of circumstances relatable. Despite being abused while young, the author still desired only the best for everyone he met. Undoubtedly, Tom’s life was not what he had expected, but he was determined to lead an intentional life.

This an outstanding series and I am glad the first three volumes have been book of the day for the past three days. I really enjoy the writing style and I found the detail very educational. The official review was very good and I agree with the rating. I would like to read the entire book in the near future.

Soldiers always have weird activities that they involve in, probably as a way to cope and keep their minds sane and active. I'd like to read Tom Wick's account of the activities included in the initiations aboard the USS Gridley. This book series doesn't seem to have disappointed so far.

I had no idea that this book was part of the series. Tom Wick was determined to live a life better than his past. It's a pity that he still had some hard knocks like the hard drugs.

I appreciate the author’s candor in relating what had to be the most turbulent years of his life; sharing his hardships and triumphs while having the greatest adventure of his life. Well done with the review.

Great review! With the third book in a memoir, I hope the author has created a growth curve to keep the reader engaged. You certainly seem to have enjoyed the book. Readers interested in Sea Voyages, life in the US Navy would like this book. Since I have not read this book and only reviews, my only feedback to the author would be to have a better cover designed for the book. While the Book title is definitely engaging, the cover is plain and I may not have picked it up at a bookshop for lack of an appealing cover. I am happy that the author came out with his story which many people will find relatable. All the Best !
