I just read a sample and came to see the review before proceeding with the full book. OMG, your review fits it to a t. The sample itself gave me chiils. The references like you described as so well done. Yes, its very bone chilling, how intricately detailed the scenes were for a biography. The review now makes me want to purchase and finish it immediately. well written review. :D

A history re-telling. I don't have words for the book, I didn't exactly understood the purpose of the book but review is great. It atleast give a peek into what the book could be. The only thing I liked is that believe and faith are Importance in life.

Thank you for the thorough review of “Near the Danube Bridge" by Catherine Allen-Walters. The book starts with a map and a few family trees. This is a family story and is told through family memories as well as research possibly through family memorabilia also. What a gift to be able to glimpse the time and challenges as well as triumphs through the pages of this well written and properly laid out story!

You dropping tears is really intriguing. I also like that they were tears of joy. I wonder if the Hartigs and Kirchners tried to be happy, regardless. Congratulations on winning BOTD.

Near the Danube Bridge sounds like a very inspiring read. Even though I get uncomfortable reading about people going through so much pain in real life, I look forward to sample this one. Congrats on the BOTD!

Near the Danube Bridge by Catherine Allen-Walters is a family biography researched by Elisabeth Hartig, the protagonist's daughter. The story spans Europe and North America, tracing over three generations of two families from the eras of world wars. these families face test to their faith and endure to overcome adversities and persecution. The 20th century has been difficult and tragic for most of the world, but especially for Central/Eastern Europe. Read this book to learn more about that region and time period while also learning true inspirational stories of people who stick to their principles in face of tyranny. This book's plot twists, historic details and editing make it worthy of 5 stars.

Kalman's journey of faith and resilience, set against such a tumultuous historical backdrop, seems like a powerful testament to the human spirit. The way the reviewer describes the inclusion of photos and letters has piqued my interest even more.
I believe in something greater than myself.

The book "Near the Danube Bridge" written by Catherine Allen-Walters tells the remarkable story of Kalman Hartig. It vividly portrays the hardships he endured under the communist regime and his daring escape from it. "He grabbed Kalman, thrust a mop and bucket into his hands, and trumpeted, “I am going to break your faith. I am going to make you work on the Sabbath.” Unable to hold the mop and bucket, Kalman fell." I will surely give it a read. Congrats on BOTD!
