This is the most interesting paragraph from this review. It is a story in which the life of very simple people has been discussed in an elaborated manner. The girls and boys were very simple and creative and were very frank to each other. Thanks for your review. The author's childhood was one filled with activity, joy, and laughter as she grew up in the forties, a time when cell phones and tablets didn't exist. Then, the streets were safe to walk at night and children had to be creative when it came to entertaining themselves. She and her brothers always had something up their sleeves, even getting suspended from school one time. The most memorable bit from her childhood was when the chicken they were to slaughter for dinner flew away, and the whole family had to chase it. These crazy stories are ones many of today's children will never be able to tell, as they live sheltered and sedentary lives.

I actually want to read more of this book, I grew up in the country, we raised our own chicken, cows, goats and sheep. We had fresh cows milk every morning, and the fried chicken was to die for, I know how the writer felt about that. Like her, we didn't spend much time indoors, too much to see outdoors. Can't wait to read the rest of this book.
