It is always amazing to read these stories about people who did not let life's circumstances defeat them. This does sound inspiring. Thanks for the uplifting recommendation.

Different form of challenges really hard to handle it. But keeping the faith to God, nothing is impossible. Hope I can learn more, when the opportunity comes to read this book. Thank you for the nice review!

A memoir recounting the author's traumatic childhood and struggles with depression and addiction sounds like an emotional read. Using humor to distract the reader from the painful scenes is a good move. That the author is honest about his fears and struggles is a plus. That it was well-edited is a plus. It is shocking that the psychiatrist who was supposed to help him out, mistreated him. Not for me, but I am glad you found it interesting. Thank you for the review!

Having a photographic memory would certainly make writing a memoir easier. This book sounds like it can get really dark, but that it's also tempered by humor. I'm sorry for all the trouble in the author's life and am glad to see he's made it through well enough.

This is an interesting non-fictional memoir on addiction, depression, hardship, and overcoming pain through strength. The book has a free sample on Amazon Kindle and has an amazing story that I felt would benefit many people.

I agree with previous posters that the dark, emotional scenes could be potentially triggering, so I'll probably not read the book. In any case, thank you for the good review--I'm glad you did not go into too much detail or give too many examples of those difficult scenes.

It sounds like Kempfer truly had a bad life. It is sad to hear that his father rejected him and caused some deep problems in the young Kempfer's psyche. After going through so much depression and loneliness, the author's life changed. I am glad that his story has a good outcome from it all.

This sound like it would be a tough one to read with so much abuse. Children deserve to grow up in a loving home and it’s unfortunate the author had to face so many unpleasant moments. Thank you for the helpful review!

Wow. It sounds very emotional, but I'm sure we can learn something from reading Lewis' memoirs. Nobody deserves pain in any shape or form, especially a child. Brilliant review. Will definetly read it.

Thanks for this exceptional review. This is really an eye-opener and a sensitive cogent message to the parent who neglects the sociological and psychological impacts of child upbringing. It always brings a remorseful memory to the bearer, and that's if the bearer has already conquered it, if not. it will surely be constant regret and pain.

Rather than depressing, "Don't Mind Me, I'm Just Having a Bad Life" by Lewis Kempfer seem quite motivational. The story about a boy who had a miserable childhood but still managed to keep his head above water to obtain a bachelor's degree. I would say that required a lot of commitments and determination.
