While I find the premise fascinating and appreciate the author's approach to treatment being holistic, I don't think a doctoral dissertation is something I would enjoy reading. I'll pass on this one. Thanks for the detailed review!

I agree. Many of us will suffer from mental health problems at some point in our lives, so it's not helpful that there still exists a good deal of fear and shame around the issue.
Many thanks for your comments!

I think that holds true for other areas of health care too. Medication seems to be the default treatment, even when there are alternatives available.

This sounds like a very well researched book and is well documented. It isn't a topic I would gravitate towards, but I see how it could be useful for family members of those living with Schizophrenia.

Hats off to you for writing such an excellent review. I had heard before about sufferers of other disorders (like bipolar) not wanting to take the medication because it dampens creativity. While academic books may not be accessible to a general audience, it's important that they're there because of their solid basis in research.
This post was brought to you by the word "specifically".

Medical and scientific discussions don't usually grab my attention, but the narrative underlying this one interested me. Thanks for commenting!

I definitely think that there's an issue with medication that leaves people living a heavily sedated kind of existence. For people who are naturally creative, that must be almost worse than the illness. Thanks for commenting.

Biblical books need to be well researched. I'm happy that the book is one. Thanks for the review!
