Sounds like a very emotional story. Can't imagine how the parents felt while going through the entire ordeal; I guess that's why they wrote a book to help others going through similar situations.

The parents were insightful to keep a journal of all the tests, medicines, etc. It will always be a reminder of what they and their son went through. It is also wonderful that they were willing to share this very personal journey with other parents. Thanks so much for your thoughtful comments! :-)

There are no dead ends, only new paths!! It takes just a leap of faith. The parents must have been strong. Great review.

I can definitely imagine how parents of hospitalized children would find comfort and understanding in Lou's story. I commend the author for putting out this book. Amazing review!

This is the first time when I read about this disease, Legg-Calvé-Perthes. Lou seems such a brave, wise kid. What his parents have gone through! Fighting against cancer and overcoming the medical, financial obstacles are some rough challenges. Your review emphasized the emotional and sensitive read. Thank you, but I think I'll skip this one.

This book is well written but a little hard to read and heartbreak to read also. I've never heard of this disease so I gues this book also taught me something.

Sharing Lou's experience gives other parents hope and guidance on how to be an advocate for their child. It can be intimidating to refuse to accept the diagnosis of the "authorities." Mark and Mary Ellen kept looking for an answer. "No dead ends, only new paths!" Thanks for your thoughtful comments!

It is difficult to read about children who get sick and have to go through painful treatments. Lou was amazing! His story will motivate you. Thanks for your thoughtful comments!
