After reading the first book, I’d be interested in continuing to read about this part of his life and how his upbringing shaped his time in the Navy. Thank you for your great review!

The history of the USS Gridley and life aboard her. His descriptions of the places that they visited, the culture, topography, and history would be of interest to me but the more lurid details not so much. I agree with the reviewer on the comment of his lifestyle but perhaps it can help the reader to understand why those like Tom use it as a coping mechanism. It is unfortunate about the number of errors in the book. Perhaps the author might consider a round of editing in the future. Thanks for the excellent review.

I see how the author told in a brutally honest way how he coped with all the terrible experiences he passed through in a life that also include fascinating parts. Thank you for your great review!

I enjoy pictures in a book, but to an extent. And, I like informative descriptions of various places, but at times an author gives too much and the reader could lose interest! I think this author's story is one that others can relate to, and even be helped by reading what he went through. Thanks for a great review!

I think I'll enjoy Tom Wick's time in places like Hawaii, the Philippines, Singapore, and Acapulco. I will enjoy those parts because the author seemed to spare no detail in helping readers get vivid images of his experiences in those cities. Congrats on the BOTD.

I don’t think I would be interested in this book. I read the sample and found numerous errors and was really confused about the beginning of the book. I also think I would find the travel and naval descriptions boring.

I don't typically read memoirs such as this, so I'm going to pass. But I agree with the Official Reviewer. The book has too many errors and I hope that the author takes this opportunity to have the book professionally edited.

I'm glad that the author has overcome so much, however, this genre doesn't interest me. I'm a fan of romance not memoirs/autobiographies or things like that.

I admire the author persistent in making a nice memoir of his life story, I'll surely try to follow up with the volume 1 and then with 2 soon. Congrats on BOTD.

In Wick's second installment, I'm happy to read that there isn't just tough times described. I'm looking forward to reading about the reviewer's favourite parts, those dealing with his trips to Hawaii, the Philippines, Singapore, and Acapulco.

 I see that Tom followed an interesting life and it sure seem like a good tale to follow up, but I won't be as memoirs are not my thing. Thanks for a good review anyway.
There is no point in trying to please a person who doesn't apreciate me. Besides, why do I have to try and please anyone in the first place?

The author balances the sadness and pain he experienced with the beautiful places he was able to visit while in the Navy. I appreciated your reasons for recommending this book. John's humor help readers handle the difficult choices and experiences he had. Thanks for the intriguing recommendation.

This sounds like such an emotional memoir and I like how the author uses humor to keep him hoping. It is so awful to hear about the abuse he experienced and then the PTSD that followed. I commend the author for his transparency in sharing his experiences. Thanks for the lovely review.

Rape of a man in the navy? Sounds quite heavy stuff in this memoir. Thanks for the engaging review.
