This is usually the sort of book that I enjoy. It discusses the racial inequity that has been present in America for so long, and gives an in-depth understanding into the harm that it can--and does--cause. Congrats on being BOTD!

Great review! But it's sad that racism exists now also. I will surely give this book a try.

This sounds like an interesting book. However, I am not too interested in books with political bias—on either side! I am sure the author's grandfather saw things none of us can imagine. I am sure this is a very good book, but I am going to pass on this one. Great review!

This book seems very interesting to read though this is not my usual genre. It is very heartbreaking to see how the author has suffered many obstructions. Also, it is a shame that Racism still exists even in this era. It's inspiring how the author has raised her voice and addressed many problems. I would love to read the book and this book will be a new addition to my Bookshelf. Thanks for an amazing review.

The title is like asking me to stop and listen to what the author is saying. And I appreciate that it has poems and prose which makes the book engaging. Thank you for a concise review!

Historical fiction is always a boring topic to me. but this book's review just made me think otherwise. The review is precise and up to the point emphasising each and every topics in the book. A book about American history just piqued my interest.

This book is definitely a must-read for anyone interested in knowing about racism, slavery, politics and elections from the perspective of someone who has experienced the effects of social evils personally each day of their existence.
Thanks for this informative and enlightening review :tiphat:

I like it when authors do a lot of research while writing the book. From the review it is evident that the author has presented a lot of facts with supporting information. I don't read non-fiction, and I cannot imagine what the author has been through, but I see a lot of hate online and it breaks my heart to see what the world has come to. More power and love to her. Great review!
