The untold story of bravery and ultimate sacrifice performed by the 95th Bombardment group in the Second World War comes alive in this blockbuster novel. B-17s over Berlin chronicles the exploits of Allied airmen in bringing the German war machine on its knees and effectively, ending the war.

The stories of war veterans will never be known in totality. Their private battles and the physical and emotional struggles they have to endure will never be something that we can understand. But I am glad that I will better understand their lives through this book.

Thanks for your informative review!

“B-17s Over Berlin: Personal Stories of Courage, Honour, Victory” by Ian Hawkins seems like a good account of WWII stories. I like that the book offers authentic and insider info on both positive and negative aspects of war. I also like that it seems very well-organized because, unfortunately, many books of this genre are often disorganized. The inclusion of photographs gives it life. It seems that I found my next WWII read.

Congrats #BOTD

Nice review! If there’s anything I’ve realized about war (especially ones as big as WWI/II), it’s that plenty of personal experiences/anecdotes will fall through the cracks. There’s so much that happens with so many people involved (as well as varying biases around who/what gets “spotlighted”) that it’s pretty much inevitable. So, when people find ways to bring those stories forth, it’s a time to be grateful. While I may not hold particular interest for this one, there’s no telling who out there would be and gain something valuable from it.

WWII has been one of the most horrific wars in human history. Soldiers fighting in this war have seen a lot; thankfully, most are still alive. This book is about them recounting past incidences.

It is always interesting to read about historical wars. WWII has taken away a lot from Earth. I'm happy that we get the opportunity to read about their personal stories. Since the review mentioned the book is quite lengthy, I might have to skip this book. I am not a huge fan of historical books. I'm sure historical lovers will enjoy this book. Thanks for the review. Congrats on the BOTD!

Today's BOTD is a collection of personal stories of bravery and courage from WWII's 95th Bombardment Group. Complete with images, diagrams, documents, and links to supplemental readings, those interested will get a front row seat to what these veterans experienced, as well as the sacrifices they made. This sounds like a must-read. Thank you so much! :-)
